Fairly new to the watch world and particularly Omega.
My dad owned an Omega and a Hamilton so I grew up always assuming they were the best two brands ~ dads and sons being how they can be.
For my entire adult life I had convinced myself that with my chosen career and life trajectory (jazz musician) I would stay in my comfort zone financially with watches (Casio, Seiko and the occasional micro-brand).
Earlier this year my wife really convinced me to do something nice for myself (I am not good at that -- regarding others yes, for me not so much) and start looking at getting myself a luxury watch.
After a fair bit of research I set about on a previously owned Omega Seamaster '57 Trilogy. Instant love!
But then the Omega bug bit me and I couldn't stop thinking that perhaps "just one more would do it"... so began the search for an Omega Speedmaster that would suit my lifestyle and tastes.
It had to be automatic, at least 100 meters of WR and smaller than 40mm for the case. It needed to have a stock Omega bracelet as well. The more I looked the more it looked like nothing like this existed. And then one day I was chatting up the Omega boutique manager local to me and he said, "Oh, you'd be wanting to find yourself a Reduced!"
We parted ways that day after he wrote down two reference numbers for me to research -- with him putting a stronger emphasis on the 2nd of the two reference numbers 3539.50... I began looking.
After a couple close calls with scammers and a seriously grumpy seller in another country I found a young anesthesiologist who was selling his because it wasn't getting the wrist time it deserved.
Since taking delivery my Seamaster '57 hasn't been on my wrist (which does make me feel a slight bit guilty but love is love!)...
I adore this watch and am now thinking about selling my '57 Trilogy Seamaster!
Two months on the wrist, 24/7, and I am still smitten...

Very nice! The first “nice” watch I ever bought was one of the first generation reduced’s.

Here it is in the middle.

Oh, is it "reduced" because it shrank in the wash?

3 more washes and it'll be down to 34mm 😗
