·If you have been looking for an attractively aged 1950s jumbo chronograph in 18k gold with an unusual complication ... your search is over. 😀
If you are not already familiar with it, this will be a bit out of the ordinary. One unusual feature of this Eberhard chronograph is that it is extremely large, a full 39mm excluding crown and pushers. Interestingly, the high quality 21-jewel Eberhard cal 16000 is a Valjoux-based movement that is actually a monopusher, and the upper pusher starts, stops, and resets the chronograph sequentially. The lower "pusher" is not a pusher at all, but a slider that stops and starts the sweep second when the chronograph is running, without resetting. The movement is keeping time and all chronograph functions are working properly; I have no service history on the watch.
The original dial exhibits age marks and spotting, but remains appealing to the eye, with sharp and unfaded printing and lovely applied logo and markers. The gold case is strong, with a ding on the side as shown in the photo. The color of the gold on this case is particularly appealing in my view and the shape of the lugs is amazing. The watch is on a croc-print leather strap that really complements the watch, with a gold plated deployant. Overall, just a very cool, high quality, and attractive chronograph in a modern size, for someone who appreciates an aged vintage look. Please take a close look at the photos, which show the watch in various types of lighting, and let me know if you have questions.
This is a hard watch for me to price, most of the similar examples on the market (e.g. C24) are at silly asking prices, so not very useful. The only recent sale I found was at about $3300, but the dial was cleaner. I am going to ask $2,100 USD (reduced from $2,450) by PP F&F, bank wire, or other fee-free electronic payment. The watch and I are in the US (Colorado). Shipping included within the US.
