Ever since I first got into vintage watches, Omegas from the 1940s era have captured my imagination. The thin cases that create a timeless silhouette on the wrist; The classy designs that can both be found in quite formal designs (chronometres) as well as rugged (think arabic numeral radium Lume suverans); the connection between the user and the machine with the exquisite hand wind movement. Needless to say, this era of watches remains my favourite above all else.

Whilst this was not my first 30T2, today I am offering my first "jumbo" 30T2, with a diameter of approx 38mm (without crown). It was one of those love at first sight purchases, but sadly, with half a dozen more 30T2 purchases later, this one is not often worn. I think you'll agree as you look through the pictures that the dial here is one that captures the essence of the era in such a fantastically magical way.

Dial: As with most watches it is the dial that sells the watch - and this is no different. For a watch that is 76 years old the dial is in very nice condition. With a light and even patina, this dial is has a subtle warm, marble-like appearance and the two tone design creates a rather dynamic experience. But it is the mirrored numerals that capture the light that really draw you in and make you fall in love with this piece. It's one of those pieces where the photos do not do the piece justice in my opinion. All hands appear to be original.

Case: The case is considered very large for the 1940s, measuring 38mm diameter without crown. The case is in good condition, and does not appear to have been polished (although given the nature of this reference it is hard to tell as there are no bevels) and the crown appears to be original.

Movement: This watch has been in my possession for around 2 years and the 30T2 calibre movement is running well. It has not been serviced during my ownership, but has a mark inside the caseback suggesting it was serviced shortly before I added it to my collection. I recommend that the buyer has the watch serviced, although this is of course up to your discretion.

Strap: This case fits 18mm wide straps and will be supplied on a genuine leather strap from my collection of the winners choosing. The pictured strap will not be included.

Box/papers: Box included as pictured which I believe to be time correct, however no papers.

Please observe all photos and the description with care as I offer no returns.
