I've been viewing a lot of vintage watches to practice my eyes if the watch is genuine and or if it is redialed.

I stumbled upon this Tudor Prince Oysterdate. Looks genuine to me but I have a couple of concerns:
    1. The letters from the words Prince Oysterdate are too wide. In other online listings, the letters are much narrower.
    2. The bracelet number is 7835-17 while other listings are 7835-19.

    Would appreciate any observations!

Asking for opinions on dials usually unleashes a barrage of comments. I’ll start. Looks good to me.

The watch is small at around 31mm hence the 17mm bracelet.

Did Tudor have another model with 19mm bracelet?

Yes, 19mm was standard in most 34mm Tudor and Rolex’s

Thanks, so that answers my #2 concern. I wonder if anyone can answer concern #1

I think it’s genuine but I would question the Swiss without the T’s for tritium unless this is a radium dial which would put it pre ‘65ish (I don’t know when Tudor went from the rose to the shield). The 31mm (midsized) tudors make for excellent ladies watches. This would be a spectacular gift if there is a lady in your life, and if not, let us know where it is and one of us can grab it for that special someone.

And the fonts change periodically- ever so slightly on different eras or even different dial contractors, , so you may be looking at different dial years or makers. The lume plots look good to me which usually a tell-take on a redial.

Edit- considering this is a midsized watch, you can’t compare font sizes or placement to larger models- apples to oranges

I don't think there is any reason for concern#1. the dial is fine. as others pointed out I would be more concerned about the diminutive size.

One question I do have- the rolex’s of this era had open 9’s & 6’s, was that not the same for Tudor, or is this an incorrect date wheel?

i'm not so sure but could it be that's an ETA date wheel and not a rolex movement date wheel?

Thanks so much for the info. A wealth of knowledge we have here! I was planning to buy it, asking price is $800 which I think is reasonable. Learned so much on this thread. Thank you everyone! @janice&fred @JwRosenthal @Canuck

Have you checked the movement for the ETA stamp?

I am no expert on Tudor fonts, but it looks like the 6 o'clock lume plot partially covers the Swiss. That seems wrong to me.
