Just want to share some pics. Great watches from 1930-1960, both design and movements... One of my favorite brands...

Venus 175 chronograph

pocketwatch with beautiful movement

Record Datofix

Record with Cal. 174 inhouse movement

Late Valjoux 72 chronograph

the Rotor 21 jewels with Calatrava style dial, looks really good!

The Record W.W.W. is great value and though chrome-plated wears nicely on the wrist. I've had a couple that's come and gone but I really like the NATO dial version:

Every time I think I've got a handle on what brands 'have' to be represented in my vintage collection, let alone models, you guys introduce me to another fantastic obscurity...well, this goes on the list with Smiths and Garland now...le sigh. 🙄

I hope I have discovered the right place for this inquiry.
I purchased this RECORD GENEVE about a year and a half ago and I am getting ready to sell it to fund a couple of other projects
I purchased it purely due to curiosity about the brand and mostly for it's good looks
Before placing an ad, I would like to learn more about this particular watch in order to write the ad and I am hoping there are a couple of RECORD enthusiasts out there we stumble across this post
The previous owner guessed the date at 1954 and the case size is 37mm.
The only marking on the case back is the numbers 1 9 stamped

Thanks.

This arrived yesterday. I love how this watch seems to have lived a colorful life as seen in the wear on the case, the patinated dial and missing hand lume. The angular case (anyone knows what these cases are called?), the Deco fonts and the sector dial add to its commanding character.

The seller claimed this has a Borgel case but it doesn’t have the FB insignia on the caseback. Is that possible?

Dear pnwyankee and aap. I would expect both your watches to have the 022k movement that Record also used in the military Record W.W.W...That is however 15 jewels. Do you know what movement is in your watches?

My only Record…a flea market find…currently vacationing with my WM. Any info on movement and approximate date would be greatly appreciated. Cheers!

So, in a separate thread. There was the story of a £5 Speedmaster find. I said that if I bought a valuable watch for that price I would expect some kind of Karmic retribution. Well I didn't find a Speedmaster today but I did find this old Record tangled up in a ball of old quartz watches for £3. Getting it home, I found it was gold and though its missing a hand and doesn't run .I feel it was a good buy. Should I sell or should I restore? Not sure yet.

I'm sure I'd rehab it and give it a berth in the "Home For Wayward Watches" here. I'm a sucker for vintage solid gold watches.

Could be quite nice.

I am leaning that way. In a way the story of my finding it is worth more than the relatively modest price its worth.

from what i gather that patent # is borgel:
