Anders - I think it's a very nice example. Lovely matching patina to hands and indices. Correct crown. Case looks very much unpolished judging by the finish and lines and lug ends; also the legibility of the engraved serial number on the back. I would plan to include a service in my budget for acquiring this; the movement looks untouched.

Looks like an honest watch, price is a little high but if it is 'cesars wife' then it makes little differance.

Nice copper coloured Class 4. Importantly, it has the correct copper coloured date ring and the swivel lug bars. The starting price is the top end of what I would expect it to realise, but it is a full set. I'm not sure that they were delivered on a deployant strap although this could have been a customer request. All of the Class 4s were supplied with a brown strap.

Thanks so much for your help, which convinced me that it is a good buy.
    Now just to wait ;)

$2716 for a very nice but undistinguished A273. I no longer understand the market.

It certainly isn't in the "special" category. I was watching it, but for that money... other choices abound.

Yes. However, someone in the market seems to have a divergent view. Same thing's going on with Omega Speedmaster, as we've seen.

I have watched these pre El Primero's for about 3 years now and it was two years ago you could buy them for Euro800-1000
Then last year they started moving and it seemed Euro 1300-1600. Now????

Another 3019 PHF. Good looking, complete first-generation Astronic at a very reasonable price.

These can usually be found if one is patient. I usually have crystals but at the moment don't have a 386 crystal

Does anyone else find it suspicious that someone with no feedback and three bids total (two in the last 36 hours in the Ford automobile section and one on the Zenith A386) just happens to bid on this piece? With so many watches online, they just happen to bid on this piece that requires a bit of arcane watch knowledge, yet have never bid on or bought any other watches....

The bid was also made with 12 hours left, intentional no doubt so no one can check how high the bid went...

Or, don't bid more than you would be willing to reasonably pay considering any expert restoration needed, since it isn't guaranteed that the bidder is a shill.
