In need of servicing a pie pan connie deluxe 354 bumper yet I have no idea who can be trusted with these. It could also use a new strap and buckle, which I'm at a bit of a loss for. Come to think of it it would be really exciting to find a correct omega buckle to match..
Sam Kalter on the NW corner of 7th & Sansom (the end of Jeweler's Row). E-mail at [email protected] or call (215) 629 - 1022 and tell him Dennis sent you. He'll do whatever you do or don't want and understands that vintage collectors are bonkers. Straps are easy - Kelaran: http://www.ebay.com/usr/soulsis78556h
If you don't mind one of us Joizeyites we have Steve / N2FHL as a member here. He's done a lot of watches for forum members. Lives pretty close to Philly too.
Just don't tell anyone ELSE in Philadelphia Dennis sent you, don't want anything unfortunate happening.
Oh this is good news I couldn't have hoped for better in location especially if his prices are reasonable. Thank you Dennis. It essentially needs an unbiased set of eyes for condition and an oil, hopefully no more.
Nice straps at Kelaran. Any idea which would be a close match to an original strap for this watch? If not I'd probably go with this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/RARE-18mm-T...4220511?pt=US_Watch_Bands&hash=item5897d1a35fPurchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network Do you guys get into matching omega buckles?
Be VERY wary of Ω logo buckles - many are fakes. Better to buy a modern style from a known seller of authentic ones (WatchcoAU for instance). Don't worry about the strap - it was a dealer option back when these were sold new so virtually anything could have been installed when it was purchased. Just get what you like. I have the same Kelaran black matt gator strap on my 168.005 and 2500, and an Italian made lizard strap on my 2799.
We do, but it is very difficult to find nice original ones anymore. I've pretty much given up trying to find them. You can get modern buckles in rose gold, yellow gold or steel at Ofrei.com for about $25 apiece. Genuine Omega Buckle, 16 mm Yellow Gold Plated Omega leather watch strap buckle. OME-9451-1601 $24.60 90% of Omega buckles sold on eBay are fakes. Especially the 16mm ones, that's the most common modern size. Many of the original watchbands for Omega were very tapered. 13mm buckles with 18mm lugs were quite common in the 1950's. Not so today. Another reason why nice original ones are so hard to find, gatorcpa
