Time for an update
I picked up these two Benrususess for just under $100 for the pair. Both are running strong and have benefited from a crystal polish and were otherwise ready for action.

The all-steel three star Benrus is a handsome piece with an interesting number arrangement on the dial. It’s small at 31.5mm w/o the crown, so I’m going to make a bund strap for it similar to the one
@Alpha gave me, but in 16mm. Since it’s a front loader I’m not able to open it to see inside, but it keeps very good time. Dial is amazing, just a mark under the crystal at 2:00 I can't get at, and dang I see I have somehow scratched is at 9:00
. Thanks again to
@JwRosenthal for the logistical assist!

And this,
this is some circa 1950’s chutzpah!
This Citation-line Benrus is front and back 10k rolled gold, complete with the original flex band that is also 10k RG on the top. These stretchy bands are
so so comfortable, but like so many people nowadays, I am not a fan of the look
I’ll store the band away for some later day or owner. It is powered by a 17 jewel Benrus BB 14 movement, which I believe is an
ETA 900. At 34mm w/o the crown, it actually wears quite large on the wrist - that's what you get with 43mm lug to lug. I’ve put it on this 18mm vintage Bulova strap for now. It's a kooky look, and I am absolutely in love with it. I do wonder what demographic was the target audience for these fancy lug watches
