Ha! The more grody the better 😁 that’s where the deals are 😉

I think the lettering is just a combination of a scratched crystal and bad photos. No way I think someone redid this dial. Bracelet is loose, but likely wearable and worth at least two nice straps since it has the right endlinks.

I think the autavia re-editions (i know they're $3-4k...) are great deals.

One man’s 'good value' is another’s 'OMG if I sold all 30 of my watches I’m not sure they’d fetch the cost of one of these’! 😲

I’m with you there, I definitely swim in the shallow end of the pool.

Those reiditions Carreras (not Autavias) from the 90s are very faithful to the originals as they are basically exact replicas except without Carrera on the dial and of course the movement. You can also get them for at least half the price of a 2447. I went a differnt route on a vintage Carrera going for a 3647s (Carrera 45) as the two register versions can be found for a little more than these reeditions.

That said this thread is definately looking at a different area of the market where there are some great watches out there without an extra zero tapped onto the end.

I personally think this is one of the best threads going on OF right now and I really appreciate the folks that keep it going.

Agreed. "Bargain" is indeed relative. An Ed White for $5k is a bargain, an 806 Navitimer for $4k is a bargain. But I feel this thread is about what we can do with fun money, literally raid the change tin on your dresser and you can get a watch.
That said- if anyone finds an 806 for $150, please PM me and don't clutter up this thread with such dreck 😁

I will send you the link to the 806 for $150 if you send me the link the Ed White for $150.

Not a bad watch, the dial actually looks pretty nice. Case has been pretty heavily polished but it's not a blob, second hand and crown are incorrect but I actually dig that second hand, crystal is crazing and will need replacement. With service and parts it will add $400+ to the watch, still not horrible but it adds up.

This thread!! I'm now forcing myself to add pieces to my watch list, then let it sit for a couple days in hopes that someone else will swoop in and snag it...and if not, I may throw a low ball number out and see what happens.

I think I have four in transit at the moment...

I own one of these and of course since I own one, I always look at others. This seems to have a scratch on the dial, I thought it was crystal at first but it may be the dial above 5. Look closely before jumping

and contrary to what the seller may think, it's not a relume- that's the orginal lume- the hand color however...haven't seen that color before...but may be original.

I can't tell on it either. Last pic on wrist makes it seem like it could be on crytal and others looks like on dial. Might be worth asking him a question if someone is interested.

ETA - there is also a nice skin diver on sale from a really good seller in the forums if someone wants one.

If you look closely at the last picture, I'd bet that scratch is on the crystal...it seems to distort the seconds hand in that photo. Also seems to be a parallel scratch over the 4 marker, and venture to guess those scratches occurred at the same time.
