I have gone back to the listing twice since I posted it...this one is tough for me...I may cave
But for the fact that the diameter is 33.5, and I’m determined not to go below 34, I’d have jumped ahead of you and paid cash on the nail!

Baby diver arrived, in a couple of years I can see my son’s gonna have a field day with these.

Decent looking Zodiac from about a foot away- don’t look too close at the dial. Case appears to be stainless but seller doesn’t show inner case back. From a fellow countryman in Puerto Rico...yes, they are American citizens. Has make offer so may be a fun beater for little money.

Plated Helbros with linen dial and great lume. Plating is in excellent shape, the dial is the true star here- love the layout of block and stick, 12 & 6, and those lume pips pop. Says running fine and make offer.

side note- Gecko sells a grey suede strap with red stitch (I own one) would totally pop that red logo.

Any super compressors in the bargain bin category around? All the talk of Wittnauers is making me check for a Wittnauer SC but i can't swallow the prices. Slowly creeping towards Enicar, Rodania and such.

Oh I wish. There was a Benrus Deep Sea up for $499 but it has been poorly relumed and wrong hands

Sorry- $699. It’s not a bad looking watch but it’s beat up and the correct hands are impossible to find- but here it is.
And that lume job....ugh, looks like stucco. Should be fluffy half moons and they went with lumpy oatmeal.

I was lucky and scored this locally for 450$ish but am wishing to end the summer with at least one more piece. It's not a Barracuda but to me this dial and hand configuration is even more attractive than the Barracuda...

There's a lot of wrong on that one. Didn't see the listing though.

EDIT: Dunno why but the logo is showing as missing part of the L while in fact the dial is mint.

The Benrus and Bulova SC’s are among my fav, but for those who don’t know much about super compressors, it’s important to note that case parts (crowns, crystals, inner bezels) are impossible to find on their own. If the watch isn’t complete- it most likely never will be. And you can’t just throw a generic GS crystal on them, they have a specific profile and seat to accommodate the inner rotating bezel and still create the water tight seal....and again- long NLA.
The above Benrus is tragic, the hands were probably fine but missing lume and when they relumed it, they threw the Benrus Mil hands on there (one of which the lume is separating anyway) rather than just relume the original hands. Can’t unfry that egg.

Bulova... Never got even a chance to bid on one within the EU that was not re-lumed or really rough. Don't know where to look, these watches were not used or sold locally so only chance i get is to be hawkeyed on ebay or get lucky by a post in this thread...

That was a nice value for $450. There are still deals to be had on SC’s, but off the main drag. Lots of smaller houses (like your Lanco or my Titus), used the same EPSA
cases, most used ETA or AS movements, and the dials were most likely made by the same contractors and just put the name of the company as ordered.
The exception would be Longines who was doing their own movements and Bulova who had their own thing going on, but otherwise, they are pretty much made on spec.

Here’s that Elgin for a score. Absolute cracker. Arrived today. Quick wipe with a cape cod, stick an expandex bracelet on and on the wrist.
