Lovely woman's watch. She's a lucky lady. Those blue Helbros are cool as well.
Ummm, I’m not sure if I just bought one or all 3- he doesn’t really say. I guess I’ll find out when they get here.

For the lady:

Is that hinged case intended to allow a blind person to tell the time?
I've seen regular pocket watches with hunter cases and the crystal removed that were said to be from the estate of a blind person.
Purpose designed blind watches these days normally have thick sturdy hands and braille markers, but early on they mainly converted regular watches for the purpose..
I've read of this sort of thing also being used by theatre goers (before radium dials came along) to check the time without drawing attention to them self.

Doesn’t look like a Braille watch to me, I think just hinged like a pocket watch back (looks like the movement comes out from the front). I haven’t seen a Benrus this old and the fabric strap and clasp speak to late teens to early 20’s, so still at the tail end of pocket watch design and influence on wrist watches.
Not sure if the jeweled crown is original or not but it sure is pretty. This may also have been a man’s watch, this period had some gender ambiguous fashions.

Project alert!
Nice stainless Wakmann, dial actually looks excellent under that nasty crystal (I have brought worse back with a wet sand). Lume on hands and pips look excellent but are missing at 5,6 &7- bottom of the dial so you would probably never notice. It looks to be running so signs of life. Crown and stem replacement during service and a good scrub and this thing could be a gem.

1962 Bulova- GP looks to be in great shape, that mint chip radium lume is indeed original and look at those adorable little matching pips at the end of the applied indices.
This thing would probably glow like a golden beacon in the sun once all cleaned up.

Edit- this looks to have a two-tone dial (radial brushed center and polished outer rim) and I can’t tell is that a coined retaining ring I am seeing in the reflection on the dial or not but this thing is just stunning. Someone needs to buy this...like soon.

oh and hint-hint, a sage green suede strap is what you want to put on this.

Who ever would have thought real superheros look like Elfin garden-gnomes?

We don’t see enough pocket watches in the thread. This isn’t special save for the inscription on the back. Even if it’s not their name, it should be gifted to that special someone you love that fits the title.

This may also have been a man’s watch, this period had some gender ambiguous fashions.
I found a 20's catalog of Ingraham watches and found that my little 25mm model was marketed for men, boys and ladies. the only difference being the color, and probably the length of the band. The ladies model had a white band.
I won a Benrus with rhinestone and ruby markers awhile back and after looking at it for awhile decided to give it to my sister. It was in style as a luxury man's watch back in those days but far more suited to a female by modern standards.

I commonly see the bejeweled dials on 50’s men’s watches- had to match your pinky ring. 🤮

Bulova. Ya gotta love that whale. Crystal is beaten up and the pictures look like they're taken in a sauna. But that dial looks decent. https://www.ebay.com/itm/203090692242

Stop it, I must stay focused. I have a tell myself "you want a small collection where each watch is special and covers a certain category." Can't fall in the trap of "but it isn't even $100, it's cool, come on it's got a whale." "Everyone loves a whale." "Damnit your gonna have to buy more watch storage."

Thanks to @JwRosenthal who recently got me back into eBay after being just a seller of various things for a while now. I’ve been spending more time looking at am coming across some nice vintage seikos I’ve been looking at mostly 6138 or 6139. I might eventually put it up as a wtb here but I have one waiting in the wings I’m starting to think he sold it as soon as it was serviced when he said he would offer me first. It is fun scouring eBay. I’ll probably look to get a seiko or movado there as I have seen a number I like. Even with our different views on politics and religion JW and I can pretend to get along most of the time.

Those are gonna be my new slogans, "Ya gotta love the whale", "Hey look, a whale", and "You've gotta get it, it has the whale" ::stirthepot::

One way I keep my collection small is by having very narrow parameters. So if you can find me a Bulova Sea King (has the whale) wrist alarm (with the wiggly alarm hand), and no date in good condition for a good price I will buy it. I know such a watch exists, and have seen pictures but not one for sale.

Ahhh so that's your "white whale". Sounds like a doozy to track down.
