I’m weak, that’s two I’ve bought from this thread now and I’m not even in for a hundred quid. I’ve gone full circle back to my scattergun collecting style of ten years ago.
I think for some of us who have become serious collectors, these bargains are a fun alternative to wringing our hands over $$$ purchases, analyzing every scratch, dials and hand lume matching, serial numbers....there is something nice in buying something cool or fun looking that we can just say- sure, why not. To me these watches are like finding a dime when you’re a kid and running to the store to buy candy.

On some of my favorite Bulova’s and Gruens, I have more into into the service than the watch- and some I don’t bother servicing, just clean and wear- if they are close that’s good enough for those.

Lovely GP early 60’s Elgin with spectacular circle brushed dial and cross-hatch knurling on the bezel. The dateless dial lay-out is perfection, stepped outer race track, lume pips are bright and plump. Never seen one like this.

I enjoy the hunt as much as anyone but when it gets down to the nitty gritty, I’m always asking myself - will I wear it?

My early buy Tissot, Roamer and Oris have generally lost out to Omega, Longines, Certina and others.

So, I look at this thread. I love this thread but wearing opportunity intervenes.

Good affordable way into the world of military watches. This one is on the small side at 32mm I think and is in nickel chrome but is clean and is what appears to be an Indian Military issued watch with the markings on the back. The seller is taking offers.
