Nice Tissot Seastar Seven. Crystal looks to have been glued in sloppily (and is cracked anyway) so needs a replacement, but dial and case look sharp. I think these are on the upswing for price as the Seamaster’s they are similar to have doubled or even tripled in value over the last few years.

Clean looking chrome plated Gruen with nice looking dial and great numerals. This one appears to be very clean for about 1/2 what they normally go for- and make an offer.

Interesting propositions.. does one actually wears them upon receipt? Or it’s just part of the thrill of the process of hunting

Probably a mixture of both. If one sticks to popular model bargains it's possible to wear them and just get 'em fixed as they stop. If necessary another complete running watch can be had on the cheap for donor movements. Part of the fun with bargain priced collecting. :D

I agree with @janice&fred. I've bought a few bargains from here and posted many here. I try to stick to stuff like Bulova, Benrus, etc. The parts are usually available and the service cost is usually low. For me personally, I'm on a budget and these examples are great for just that. And of course I'm a sucker for the vintage look ;)

Doesn't get any better than this. Vintage looks, quality movements and affordable! There are many ways to be a watch collector!

Same here- if they are running close to accurately, I just clean them up and wear them. If they are slightly better quality or I love them enough to throw a little money at them, then they go in cue for service.

That dial is fantastic. Very good photography with the lighting just right.

This Gruen looks very nice, but I was too late and it’s already snagged. Hopefully someone in this thread.
BTW, I really appreciate all those that post watches for us noobs, particularly JwRosenthal and Nepomuceno. I read this thread every day, often more than once

Thanks  but seriously I'm a noob too. I'm learning along the way. I credit @JwRosenthal with what I've posted and learned. But yes I'll keep sifting through eBay because it is cathartic :whistling: feel free to post as well!

Stainless Rodania, seller says nothing about running but second hand moves in the pics so there are signs of life. Dial looks nice but there is one dark spec I can see, may be crud, may be corrosion. Nice looking watch from a well respected brand.

Interesting dial on this Rodania. A bit more patina than I like but some dig this- but the pattern is fabulous. SS case looks great, most likely early 50’s so around 32mm.

Thanks to @JwRosenthal for the listing.

If this thread has taught me one thing it’s never, EVER put a generic expanding bracelet on a watch, so sad to see all the chewed lugs on these lovely watches.

I’m weak, that’s two I’ve bought from this thread now and I’m not even in for a hundred quid. I’ve gone full circle back to my scattergun collecting style of ten years ago.
