They now want 225.00 I got a real vintage one for 250.00 a few weeks ago on eBay a better deal since it's the real McCoy.
I’m not understanding, it says it sold for $110. And what do you mean by “real one?” This is a reissue, similar in style to the a17’s but modern reliability and 38mm as opposed to 31mm of the original. Sure, vintage pieces pop up all the time but always need work, are 31mm and I wouldn’t wear them for daily abuse or wet weather like I do with my reissues.

I just bought a real deal not the reissue for 25 bucks more than the price the seller has them for sell now. Reissue never last with me. But I hold on to the real McCoy like one you posted earlier in the thread. There was a member here who used a aged leather bund strap on his Bulova A-17A did not look bad what I am thinking about doing a bund makes them look bigger. Plus, you have history on the wrist.

White Bulova hack for $110! That’s a lot of watch for very little money.

Can you share a screenshot of what you’re seeing? This is what I see when I click the link and as far as I can see, the seller has no other items for sale.

I love my vintage pieces, but I feel the reissues do honor to the originals and are less precious. Plus vintage isn’t for everyone- you gotta have a strong constitution when something goes wrong and parts are NLA

I think eBay shows a different page on the browser. It picks a similar item to the one that was sold. He must have thought the price had changed, but that’s just a different item.

I feel similarly. An homage to a current model makes me uncomfortable, but a reissue of vintage doesn't bother me - especially if the original hasn't been made for decades and is very difficult / expensive to source and maintain.

FWIW, I've been buying alternate colorways for reissues. Like, a white dial Seiko SPB313 instead of the black dial 317 that looks more exactly like a 6105-8000. Or, I bought the green devil diver reissue. That way, if/when I get a vintage Bulova 666 there will be some variety.

A fixer-upper special for any Certina fan- a ladies DS 200m in original NSA bracelet and a cushioned case bullseye DS. Neither work but if you are small wristed and into vintage divers, or have a full size 200m and share a life with a small wristed person who would love a vintage diver- this is about as good as they get.

Darn! Too bad I am under direct orders to stop buying her watches. Also, I think she’d find it ugly, but she should get over that because it’s cool.

Latest bargain pickup:

Cal 565 based 166.041. Price is still TBD as it's from my neighbor (fell out of a dresser he bought), but probably around $200. Needs a correct replacement crown and stem as I can't get it to wind or set the time as it is, but a gentle shake starts the second hand right up. Also needs a new crystal and a general service.

I would break a finger getting my wallet out if that’s $200.

Ok I’m out of my league here but this looks too cool not to share. Apologies if it’s totally whack but it seems mostly okay to me. It has a Tissot crown for some reason, some dial damage, and looks a bit polished. Watch is in Germany. Could be a fun one to wear if it doesn’t go too high.

The standard deal I have with him is that anything he picks up that I list on ebay for him, he gives me 50% of the profit. I've only done it once so far, and it was something that sold for over $500 and I just gave him the whole amount. We trade stuff back and forth all the time too so I'll probably give him cash + something laying about my house.

Bulova devil diver reissue for $230. Seems to be in great condition, quite large at 44mm if that’s your thing, and the lowest price I have seen during the last few months that I have been following these:

Largish- but don’t forget that the 44mm is measured at the bottom of the UFO case, the bezel is around 41mm so it does wear “smaller”

If you don't care about radium then this 1940s clamshell cased (so should be all stainless) Croton is a great deal at $40 BIN.

That would be a cool score - I tried to find another reference. Looks like it could be 24mm wide with 20mm lug width. Tad hard to read, but who uses watches to tell time anyway…
