An exceptionally beautiful Mido Multistar datoday. The finishes are stunning, silver sunburst dial is stunning…stunning-stunning-stunning!
If this is the same movement that was in my Futura’s of the same period, then it’s a quick set for both day & date which is the only way to have them.
Sizable at 38mm, and seller says running fine. This would look killer on a mesh bracelet.

looks like it’s been scooped up already. Hopefully by someone here 😀 I reached out to the seller last night to get clarity on the movement because I tend to avoid day and date complications because I’m lazy about setting them but also can’t stand wearing one that isn’t set correctly but quick set on both would be bearable. Anyway, snooze and lose as they say. Nice catch for someone else.

I hope so too- it was nice. The Mido Futura’s I sold to @Syzygy had the quick day/date and I believe they used one of the first ETA’s that had the feature (first position in one direction changes day, the other direction changed date). It’s a total game changer compared to slow day set.

Seller just got back to me to inform me that the movement was in no way quick set so I can at least sleep knowing that I didn’t miss out too badly 😀

OF bargain alert:

If you haven’t seen in our sales section, our own @mrbreen is selling his Bulova 666 chrono. The watch is far from perfect (most notably the bezel that although isn’t original, suits the watch very well) and he disclosed the issues fully, but it’s a great price for a fully functional 7733 chrono in a stainless case by any brand let alone Bulova.

I have been staring at this one for days. Need to see it in the flesh to know if we can enjoy a symbiotic relationship.

Snag might not be the right word - it’s not cheap but what a looker!!
Yeah, when you get into this part of the market there are some that are still a good “value”, but a financial commitment- not disposable income for most.

Ha! Just realized today that this got a mention here. Thanks for the bump JW. Happy to report that the 666 is staying in the OF family.

Nice looking gold filled Lord Elgin with USA made 688. These are really beautiful watches, normally seen with enameled inlay bezel- this one looks like it wasn’t enameled as it shows no traces of the black enamel- but may have just been cleaned well.
Small at 30mm (as was the fashion around 1950) but strikingly beautiful. This would pop on black lizard. Seller says running well.
