On the topic of black dials. Clebar (Zodiac) with probably an AS movement. Offers accepted on a quite cheap black dial. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-cl...p2349624.m46890.l6249&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0

The one on ebay differs slightly to mine in that it has a date. I also thought most Sportsmen models said so on the dial. Even if not a sportsman model these are great robust watches .
You're right, they would say so on the dial.
Here's mine - genuine bargain bin finds here in Japan. The silver dial was $10 as the crystal was such a mess it was a complete crapshoot. Th back one was a bit more, needs a new crystal and the crown is incredibly stiff, when I get round to it will get some TLC.
Great bombproof movements, amazing dials, 37mm size - marred by poor old STP cases.
I know the thread is “recommended” but here’s one I think even those more informed and with a better eye than me would acknowledge is NOT recommended…
Fact.
I went to the first preview ever of the Rocky Horror Show. June 1973. London. My English master at school was a friend of Richard OBrien and he gave the class free tickets.
Never been the same since….
How’s that for a thread drift?
A bargain piece at $135 offered by @JwRosenthal.
Skylight! Has bracelet, no back medallion. This one looks really pretty- and has make offer.
If you felt like you missed out on the Technos love- here ya’ go.
I am curious about the "no medallion". Looking at other eBay auctions, they do not all have a medallion, some seem to be engine turned and some are etched. Do you think there was an insert there? Like the early connies or Longines?
