I probably overlook these ones a bit as I’ve not been a fan of the 1000 series movements but they’re not terrible and can be a decent buy if the price stays low, just wouldn’t go as high as I would with a 561/564/751 price wise
Fully agreed. They are inferior movements.

Hasn't that myth been busted? I think I recall discussions here that, out of the box, they were inferior because of various manufacturing reasons, but when fixed were as reliable as the others.

I think what you are saying is the design of the movement was fine, but there were problems in the execution.
For those buying one of these watches new then having to have these issues fixed it would be proper to say the movement was in fact inferior, though not the designer/engineer's fault.
If some element of the design made for problems in assembly at factories that had no problems with other movement designs I'd consider it the fault of management for rushing these into production before such manufacturing issues were dealt with.
A parallel might be the 1903 Springfield rifle. The basic design was great, but lack of proper thermocouple instruments for judging heat treatment resulted in a large number of dangerously brittle receivers.

That was a cool little (31mm) manual winder. Although it was not "military" in any way.
I was thinking the same thing, where is this person getting “military” out of that!?! 😵‍💫

Not Canadian JW. Our soldier is currently in Kuwait and his shorts were at the dry cleaner. He took the long cargo pants. He left our tank behind. It needed a brake job.
