I would be wary of the seller, looks like they have a lot of negative feedback.

Right, the seller claims he is not a pro and would not provide movement picture.

I wouldn't say A LOT of negative feedback, at least as a seller. Looks like he really isn't a pro as well--been selling electronics mostly for quite some time.

Thanks for this thread. It helped me understand how to work ebay for what I was looking for. I was drawn to the Seiko Goldfeather and have been searching for a couple of months. Almost all are located in Japan and the better ones were listed at a BIN price above where I wanted to pay. Most have been available on site for awhile so one of my favorites was listed at $390 and put in $265 and it was accepted from the Japanese dealer with good reviews. Thanks again for the great insights. https://www.ebay.com/itm/143977815118

It’s a very tidy piece and on my watch list. Not that this should stop anyone bidding, but at current Price it’s a great buy. Note for those interested that postage is €95 which frankly is bit much. Definitely hard to justify in A$ anyway
I'll admit that I had not noticed the shipping price, which frankly is ludicrous. I suspect however that you should be able to get the excess refunded to you, should you open a claim with Ebay.

I wasn’t aware that you could do that. I’ve always thought of postage as part of the T&C, factoring it in as part of the purchase. If one doesn’t like it, don’t bid.
Tha vagaries of pricing sellers (particularly in the USA) use for eBay’s ‘Global Shipping Program’ is beyond comprehension other than assuming Sellers opt to profit from the postage to compensate for any potential losses in a no reserve auction. $25 I consider fair but the $75 one particular seller in NY quotes is ridiculous.
To the watch at hand bidding is at currently at 200€ which is still great value but I understand also that many of the regulars contributors on this thread only post buy-it-now offerings, which is fair enough, so no further comment on this one from me.

This is the Arabic version of my black & tan stunner

Holy COW!
What a find!

What do you think of the spacing of 'SWISS MADE' in the one I mentioned?

Well, I hadn’t taken a close look until you asked. The use of serifs (which mine doesn’t have) and perhaps optical distortion from the crystal makes it look wonky, not to mention the heavy handed and slightly sloppy minute track. The lume looks correct for the era so this could be 100% original with some questionable factory QC, or it was retouched partially- but not totally.
I’m not a Certina expert of this era and there are variations from company to company on how “perfect” minute tracks and fonts had to be. maybe someone who knows these well can weigh in...paging @ConElPueblo

Sorry, JW - not an expert either. I don't see anything obviously amiss, but I would hate to vouch for authenticity 😀

I'd say that I have a decent eye for vintage dials, often distinguishing things amiss based on a 'hunch'. The truth is that you never really know, though, especially with these '40s/'50s examples. QC could very well have been questionable. Thanks for thinking along, guys.

Some nice value for you Americans out there. I suppose it would be less worthwhile for EU based folks considering import taxes.

Linen dial for <$100.

SS case 'Equator' with great numerals.

SS case with great angles and arrowhead dial - note the seconds hand and crown appear to be replacements.

Cheap Aquamatic with some dial damage but otherwise good value; of course these dials are prone to corrosion like that.
