Gone already. That was fast!
Figured it would be a matter of minutes. I just want to break my arm patting myself on the back: do any of you know how friggin’ hard it was for me to not buy that Seawolf???

Yeah, I would have bought it as been looking for something like that but I only saw the post 5 minutes after you posted it and it was already gone. Ha ha

I am glad I didn't have to wrestle with that decision. Long gone by the time I saw it. Just as I am trying to pair the collection down, something like this pops up.

Pairing down doesn’t mean we stop buying, it means we just stop buying frivolously. Curating is a big part of collecting. Pruning down ones that don’t add value (historical or personal not financial) to your collection should go to make room for ones that will. Collecting without curation is hoarding. We have a
hoarders here....happy to offer intervention services for any that feel ready when the time comes....as a former hoarder mysel.

I actually just traded off one of my more valuable watches that if didn’t wear much for a watch worth 1/3 (there was more to the deal) for one I love. It was painful the let the one go because it was worth real money- but I didn’t wear it, it brought me no joy. The new acquisition however brings me great joy despite being worth relatively little. It’s all about the joy

I agree, I am looking to maintain a collection of 6-12 watches that I like and each fills a unique role. Quality, history, and variety are what I am looking for. I also want to keep the number low enough that servicing costs do not become a issue.

Stainless Jules Jurgensen- for those that don’t know, JJ was a premium company for department store watches- well made, quality parts, attractive designs.
This one is similar to the Benrus Sea Lord and others like it. The inscription on the back is actually cool- a gift to an airman from his colleagues. Seller says running, but crystal is a mess. price isn’t bad but has make offer.

Nice square Clebar with sunburst brushed case. 32.5x39mm so not tiny for this style. Seller mentions stainless but I can’t read the back- it may be. The brushing is intact on top so that’s a good sign it hasn’t been polished to death.

Nice looking 60’s stainless Seiko with black dial- date only - which is a nice thing as most are day/date. Looks honest and original, would probably clean up well with a wet sand on the crystal. Bracelet is aftermarket but Seiko BOR’s come up often, and cheaply. Lume looks great. Has make offer

Eternamatic 3000 with factory bracelet and seller says freshly serviced. Lume pips are bright yellow, case looks nice- this is a classic. Has make offer.

should note- ball bearing logos on crown and crystal- nice! But, crown looks a little crooked- perhaps an ask about that may be in order

Benrus tank- this is really pretty. Gold plated, black dial- comes with clamshell. It appears to be running, there is a spot on the dial which I can’t tell if it’s crud or damage- if damage a dot of black modeling paint would hide it.

Nice watch at 34mm. I asked about the crooked crown and here’s the seller’s reply:
“You are right, the crown does seem crooked. I will have to check it out and the watch maker didn’t mention anything, so hopefully I didn’t bend the stem too much. Everything seems to work fine however.”

Regardless the crown doesn’t look original to me (seems too big)

Any idea what size wrist this kind of band would fit? It doesn't look terribly adjustable. I've asked sellers about this in the past, and usually get responses like "It's plenty big."

The stretchy bands are supposed to be one size fits all- because they are stretchy- but they did have links that could be removed or added- but you aren’t going to find more unless you find the exact bracelet and steal some from that. I would just take it off and throw it on leather.

14k Benrus. Dial has some issues around the edges (chipped paint), but probably very presentable at arms length. Case is lovely, as is the style of the dial. The award engraving on the back is beautifully done. I’m not usually a fan of engraved backs but when it’s this well done, it’s a beautiful part of the watch’s history.

Price isn’t bad for a running 14k watch, has make offer. Save this one from the melter.
