Ahhhhh good to know. It seems like a very flashy design. Definitely in good shape like you said but still. A lot of these 70s and 80s divers seem so overpriced on eBay.
They are, but demand is rising and quality examples getting scarce. It’s easy from a veteran collector’s viewpoint to say something is overpriced when we remember “when”, but demand has increased and supply is shrinking.

Maybe something like this is a better bargain. In working condition with minimal patina. Has a Felsa movement as well by the look of it. I'm still definitely learning so thanks for the great advice JW!https://www.ebay.com/itm/164317339733

That is very appealing. Inability to predict likely closing price of eBay auctions leads me to not bother posting auctions in this thread, it's a recipe for disappointment.

Here are three Buy It Now dive watches that I found today (and I'm not including the one I liked enough to make an offer on). Always interested to hear others' opinions!

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-CL...lossy-Black-Dial-Stainless-Watch/324230300461
* Really clean looking bezel with beautiful numeral design
* Bezel is worn but looks great, in my opinion.
* Chromed case with substantial wear, but just $125 BIN with Make Offer
* It's taking real discipline for me not to buy this, I probably would if I hadn't already made an offer on something else.

* Love the orange
* Simple, classy, striking
* It's a little pricy for what it is (35mm, plated bezel), but looks great.

* Bulova all-steel case
* Dial has some patina but generally looks good
* Half a devil is better than none
* I'd offer 30% off of asking and see what happens.

Ahhhh very true about the auction. Good advice for the future. I saw the Clinton a while back and I agree the numerals are eye-catching.

That Squale isn’t going to go cheaply- I’ve been watching it since it posted. It’s full size (most you see are the mid), comes with the pouch and cards and a tropic strap, so lots of eyes on it. The dial issues are less than attractive to me, but most see that “cred” rather than damage.

Nice looking Swiss made stainless Elgin from the 60’s. Crown looks funky so may be a replacement (or not pushed in) but easily resolved during a service. It’s got a Disco Volante thing going on and the no-date, sunburst slate-grey dial is the star here- as it should be.
Great looking lume, hands and dial are green/yellow which is common during this era (I have several watches like this) so I highly doubt a relume.

Edit- looked again closely at the dial lume, it looks rather sloppy but the texture looks correct for the period- doesn’t mean it’s a relume but doesn’t rule it out. It’s still a neat looking watch and if you’re really anal, you could relume the dial to perfection.

somebody snagged it. Any idea what size it is? I couldn't find the diameter on the listing

It didn’t say but I assume around 33-34. Since it had that dome-o-crystal is probably was pretty substantial on the wrist.

I usually don’t look at gold plated watches but this thing appears to be in exceptional shape and that dial is awesome (the muddling by 1 looks like light scratches on the crystal).
Manual wind Benrus at 32mm, yuge dial and indices with lovely snailing in the sub-second. Slap this thing on a dark brown croc and wear it to the office with style.

Ok, throwing this one out there as we have a fellow OF brother trying to make his first sale.
Nice little Helbros, needs a crystal and a clean-up but would look great on a distressed leather strap as a knock-around vintage piece or gift for a friend who wants that vintage style but is a cheap-ass. Dial is probably lovely under that skanky crystal (a $6 GS would be all that’s needed).
Make Kip and offer, he’ll probably take it.

There we go! Nice looking Seiko

Oof- on further review, the dial has some damage. Not a deal breaker but a matter of taste on that

Poor man’s Pie Pan.
1957 Zodiac Glorious date (date according to the owner)- these things are indeed glorious. This one has serious plate wear and some dial patina, but both case and dial patina are even and actually attractive. This would make a stunning “distressed” vintage dress watch for cheap- would be perfect on a dark brown suede strap with jeans and desert boots.

Edit- just did my market research on this- the starting price is actually still on the high side compared to ended auctions. Perhaps he will entertain an offer after it closes with no bids.

If you see something cool that you know is legit, throw it up.
I try to vet the ones I put up but sometimes make mistakes- and try to correct when I go back and look again (we always look again).
I have a lot of “time” in spurts depending on my workflow or if I’m having a relaxing evening on the patio. Treasure hunting is fun for me, even if I don’t need it- it’s fun to share it (warts and all) with my friends.
