I like this thread because it gives me something to do with eBay listings which tempt me but which I manage to resist buying.
Here's a Rado Diastar with a crazy faceted sapphire crystal, a hardened steel case, and a fully serviced ETA movement for $200: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-19...ETA-2782-SERVICED-Tungsten-Steel/254644385741

Got it and for £50 bucks cheaper 😀
Nice little Benrus gold filled tank- the dial is really nice on this one (only see one little Mark). Throw this on leather (or reptile) and it really be a nice watch if you have small wrists or know someone who does- hey @SportChief

I'm not really a Benrus guy myself. I try to focus my collection on Hamiltons, but I would say that Benrus is largely under appreciated in the world of vintage American watches. They were right up there with companies like Waltham, Elgin, Illinois, Bulova and probably a step below Hamilton or Gruen during the 1930s-1950s.
How about this for an interesting single-pusher enamel dialled 1920s/30s (?!) chronograph ? Ends in 4hrs.

Lovely spirally tachymeter and Breguet numerals. At 41mm, this must have been enormous in it's day. I can't believe 1920s.
Any thoughts on this one?
Probably a pocket watch originally?
I wondered that... with the lugs welded on? That's a big job isn't it?
They actually came into there stride I think in the 60’s (that military contract money helped I’m sure) with some really great designing, and ETA movements. I’ve had/have several from that era that are impressive watches and stand up against anything from the period.
Yes, some of those later 39 jewel automatics are quite interesting. A recent Benrus model that intrigued me is a watch called the "Jungle Master" from the 60s. Plus, Benrus made many mil-spec, field watches for Vietnam that have become very collectable in recent years.
