This was a bargain I didn’t share (even some of us trying to be good have a slip every now and then), and pertains to the embrace the small topic.

1940’s Mido, 28.5mm (which was a standard men’s size of the time), on NOS bund style strap.

Close up pictures can be deceiving so here is an arm shot- it is small, but with long sleeves and the bund- it looks perfectly normal to me.

Looks fantastic !!!

Because I've had feedback in this forum the other day that many here don't care much for the paperwork, so they may be interested?
Thanks for clarifying

I wasn't referring to paperwork but not sure how you can recommend as a good deal when it is an auction and you have no idea what the price will finish at

Looks nice, but what's with the free hand engraving on the movement? Can't make out the first line, but below 17 jewels it looks like "adjusted to three (3) position".

If someone is looking for a nice Mido Multifort similar to the one JwRosenthal posted earlier, this one looks like a real stunner!

That is a stunners- about as good as they get. His color balance for the photos suck, the 5th pic is probably about accurate for color in daylight

It’s a salmon colored dial which was quite popular- that’s not patina.
The BIN price it a bit high, but considering you never find them with dials this clean, a premium needs to be added for that. How much of a premium is up to the individual.

That’s not factory- probably done by a watchmaker long ago.

And note- there is radium burn by the 4 marker. It’s common and some find it charming, others hate it. I would rather a perfect dial obviously but I allow for some radium burn on my mil watches and really old stuff like this.

I saw this when it posted. I tried to negotiate but he will not budge. $285 is a bit too rich for me. Although, there is no denying that is in collectible condition. Thanks for sharing!

Then he’s gonna sit on it. It’s a very nice watch, but it’s not “special” in terms of something with heritage like the Royal Marine I posted a few days ago. It is very pretty and the dial is stunning (radium burn aside). But it’s also Salmon which doesn’t garner the premium that the grey, black or bulls-eye dials do, and the market for these is very narrow because of the size.
Mido made exceptional watches for their time- they were innovators. If they were 3-4mm larger, they would be in the same range as vintage Longines or Omega.

Without doubt this is my absolute favourite thread on this forum because most of the contributors are passionate about all that is shown. I have not bought one of the items yet but I am not against purchasing from Ebay and have done so happily for years I just haven’t been quick enough for some of them or been interested in the others to purchase but love the effort and time spent bringing them to us. Bravo guys keep them coming.

Already snapped up. Looked to have been a very good buy for someone.
That someone was someone here I believe.
