Looking at this watch as a possible acquisition. Band is not original. I have closer pics, but they’re blurry.

He’s looking for $1,000 USD.

Says it keeps time very well, no service records, hasn’t ever opened the back. He’s the second owner (his uncle bought it).
Any advice? Real deal or ???

thanks!

Ask for photos of the movement and the inside of the case back. A Seachero with a small seconds subdial should have 2990-1 stamped on the inside of the case back and a caliber 267 with a serial number that begins with 16 or 17 which would indicate a production year of 1958 or 1959. Here’s a photo of my 1958 Seachero for comparison.

An uncle watch that keeps time very well? I'd buy it sight unseen.

thanks for the quick responses. After some thought, I'm going to pass on this one- similar to a current watch.
