What do we think of this 14740-C? Stainless steel case with 18k white gold arrowhead markers, Connie style. I think this is fairly rare as I struggle to find this kind of arrowhead marker all the way around the dial, as opposed just around 12, 3, 6 and 9 with narrow arrows inbetween.

If you can get for around 950GBP could be a good price.

Patina is going to turn some off. Claims original crown - is this accurate?

Appreciate your thoughts Omega community. Do I pull the trigger for just under £1000, or wait for a better example of 12 fat 50s style arrow markers on a non-date dial?

Should say 11 white gold arrows, of course - this being a date dial

Although I love the design (and it is a nice watch) I would prefer a no-date

For me, your Seamaster still does not use the ‘larger’ shape of those arrowhead markers used in the Constellation model in the 1950s.

Also, how can you know that the markers were made of ‘18k white gold’?

Regarding the crown, in my opinion, it should be thicker than the OP’s watch and have flat feet, like my example (picture searched from the internet).

The markers look constellation sized, or at least shaped, to me. As for the gold point - the listing describes this. How exactly to tell is something I’m not sure on. Is the case reference 14740 - 3 - SC a giveaway?

Similar to a 14770 I bought recently, sort of the hand-winding version. I did pay a premium for it over a more standard SMDV, but personally, I don't find the splotchy OP dial appealing. And definitely not at that price.

Looks like the same crown- thanks Dan. Yours is gorgeous. I’m jealous. What was the ballpark figure for yours if you don’t mind me asking?

Less than you are considering. However, I replaced the crazed crystal and had it serviced (and it needed a new setting lever), so now I have more than 1000 GBP into it.

People always want to buy unserviced watches because they seem cheap, but they don't realize how often you need to replace a part or two, which adds up.

Did you research the arrowhead markers from the 1950s, such as reference 2852? 😆
Will you notice the difference in the size of the markers, such as those at 1 and 2 o‘clock?

Also, regarding the crown, @Dan S example is thicker and has a smaller diameter.

Let’s wait for @Dan S to correct it. 😀

I agree that at first glance, the crown on my watch looks more like the one that @qazwsx1 posted. The teeth/knurling also looks finer on the OP crown. Of course, mine is a totally different reference, I just noticed that the dial is similar.

Edit: According to reference material posted elsewhere, the crown for 14740 is #610 and the crown for 14770 is #562. FWIW.

Yes, and to me they are very similarly shaped. Probably larger on a Constellation of course, but these arrowheads are definitely 1950s Connie style to my eye.

thanks Dan. I have heard of cousins for example , but googling Omega crown #610 doesn't reveal anything specific for me. To verify the appearance of this crown, i have looked at other 14740s and it is definitely more flat footed as qaz says. I'll pass on this one then. Cheers again -amazing community and resource here. Generous of you both to offer assistance.

May I reveal the answer. 😆

Please note the size of the arrowhead markers on my 2852.

If you need the same size, you will need to find one like my Seamaster Chronometer.

However, it is not easy to find, akin to searching for a needle in a haystack. 🤣
