I'm sorry to bother you but I'm curious if you could possibly help me? I own a watch that I've had endless trouble trying to authenticate. It says Geneve Swiss on front 14k gold geneve on back. And genuine leather on the inside wrist band. Any information you could provide me with would be a god send. Thank you for helping

It bears no relation to vintage Omega. Run, don't walk away...

Do you really imagine that a genuine Omega would have been produced without OMEGA on the dial? ::facepalm2::

I can't see the problem. Omega doesn't hold a trademark or copyright to the name "Genève".

There is nothing I can see on the watch that indicates that it's an Omega.

So it's entirely possible that this is a genuine "Genève" brand watch.

If sellers have advertised it in connection with Omega I suspect it is out of ignorance.

The only confusing issue is that the OP posted this in Modern Omega instead of Open Discussion or Other Watch Brands.

Until we see the inside of the watch, and any visible hallmarks, we will not know.

My understanding is that the name Geneva is public domain, and cannot be copyrighted. Anyone who wants to name a watch or a line of watches as Geneva, has no restrictions on using the name.

The biggest question for me: can the 14K gold description be trusted?

Precious metal marking laws in North America are such that only makers who have a registered trade mark, can mark an item with a karat mark stamp. Geneva is not a trade mark. If there isn’t an official registered trade mark inside the case, whoever marketed that watch could be in big trouble........if they were ever charged. Highly unlikely.
