Curious to know where you found it 😁

Beauty. Enjoy!!

I bought it from the first owner's son in Singapore. He is from Portugal and is currently stationed in Singapore for a 2 years work contract. This watch was a gift to his dad when he worked in Angola in the 70s. They needed to take flights to areas pretty inaccessible and his dad's boss gave him this watch to time certain flight times. Something like fly north for 20 mins, then north east for another 10 mins. Something along this line.

According to him, car racing was starting to pick up in Angola during this time as well. Angola was booming in the 70s. His dad treasured it and was his daily beater. Unfortunately, due to the many wars, Angola is no longer what it was...

Below was a photo of me and him after ripping it off his wrist. My face being the happier one. While his smile might show a hint of hidden sadness.

In what price range was it ?
Looks great!

I paid him enough to make him part with it. Not sure what the current market price is though. In excess of $20K.

Great story and congrats on a "one owner" Nina!

This is a fantastic story. Hopefully the owner's son was at least consoled by the fact that his father's watch appears to have gone to a very good home.

Racing cars in swinging 70s Angola wearing a Nina? Surely life doesn't get better than that!

That's an awesome story and really, it's why many of us are into this hobby.

I feel like maybe the strange look in the photo is because he's wondering to himself why a guy who bought a watch from him wants to take a selfie. It's not like we take selfies with other people we have financial transactions with, like when buying a used air conditioner or a house. 😁

Congrats on the purchase. Looks great!

Interesting, I have a Heuer Carrera from the son of the first owner - A Portuguese doctor who bought it in Angola in '65...

It came as a surprise to find this locally. Jumped on it even though price was a bit too much for me.

The subdials are turning brown. A real beauty imho... Enjoy guys.
