·Where do you even find a case? Would love to do this with the dial i have
It was a complete watch in pretty bad condition. At the top of the thread, you can see the pic of what it looked like. It was a non runner and a little pricey but there was lots of scope and has been well worth restoring.The 283 (similar to 281) movement needed various parts replacing (mainspring, minute and escapement wheels and more), a good clean (removal of rust as much as was possible) and lubrication during assembly. Case was not polished. A replacement crystal was sourced from GS. Best part of it all (as always) is when the movement comes to life !
I will be wearing it on Friday, just waiting for a good quality strap. I propose that on Friday, we all flash our favorite compax's in the "watchuwearing friday" thread ... 😀
