Congrats to the Raptors. They hung tough and ignored the distractions. It is very hard to win on the road at this point in the season. Even without Leonard at his best, others stepped up when it counted. People will make excuses, but injuries are part of the game. And frankly, I don't think Leonard was 100%. Sorry to be the cynic, but I have to say it ... 3rd highest payroll beats highest payroll.
There’ll be Raptor Rapture in the GTA tonite. Canadian hockey teams seem unable to win the Stanley Cup, but the Raptors pulled it off.
Sorry to be the cynic, but I have to say it ... 3rd highest payroll beats highest payroll. A fact that will not likely recorded in the annals of Professional basketball. Admit it, the better team won!
Congrats Raptors. Love the underdogs story and Durant not being there, GS really isn't quite up there.
Man they write good scripts for these gladitorial events! If I was the writer, I'd have let the warriors win their last game at the Oracle.. Push to game 7, *then have the raptors close it out on home ground. THAT would have been a killer script!
For basketball, I'm pretty much a finals-only fan, and this series did not disappoint. Congrats to the Raptors on their first first!
I was rooting for GSW but without Durant and Klay with the ACL injury in the 3rd, the fire power was depleted. They still gave Toronto all they could handle in the series and fought hard like the champs they are. Congrats Toronto on the championship!
Yes, Stuffers Mom. There IS a Canada! And the Toronto Raptors have played in the NBA for a long time.
I will take your cynicism a step further: I have been working on and off with professional athletes my entire adult life, starting in college, and I can tell you that their intelligence, demeanor, narcissism, and offensive extra-curricular activities stereotypes are disproportionately represented. I would relay specific stories, but that would be unethical. So, it's hard for me to get too excited about any series final, in any sport, even when it's in my own home town.
