Hello, I am looking at a Ranchero on eBay and wondering if this one is real or not. Seems many fakes of this model. I think the minute markers are too thick, but let me know what you think B/R Jon http://www.ebay.com/itm/1959-Omega-...020538?hash=item48a140bffa:g:~HsAAOSwJI9ZmfOCPurchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network
Cheers. I think you correct not just minute markers are too bold on the eBay one. Is that one above yours? Very nice.
Pictures are horrible. There is no possible way one could tell if the dial is original or not. I think the hands are OK based on pictures of other known examples of the Ranchero. How much of a gambler are you? gatorcpa
Yes the pictures are bad but I would say it’s ok. Fonts and markers are in the right places, overall condition is consistent. If it is a redial or fake dial it would be one of the best we’ve seen.
It's not rare. Plenty out there. Most in bad condition though. It is very popular and demand for good ones is driving up the price. gatorcpa
My thoughts too. I am cautious to comment on watches as heavily faked as these (esp. as I have no hands-on experience), but if it was a Constellation or Seamaster with the same looks, I'd have classed is a legitimate watch, too.
Whats the theory for why there are so many fake/redials for this one model in particular? Did the case have moisture problems and the original dials degraded?
What I want to know is how many broad arrow Seamasters had their dials replaced by fake Ranchero dials if we got extracts on these. And how many white dial Seamaster 2990 originally came with broad arrow hands that were pulled off to put on the way more valuable Ranchero?
It's possible that the printing on the dial (logo & text) just looks thick because the pic is out of focus.. if there was camera shake, the fuzziness could make it look thicker when it really isn't. Just a thought.
Yep there is nothing wrong with this dial in terms of originality, seems to have moisture damage though
I think it was original and in relatively good condition. Only big one is the smudge on the 56 minute mark. Radio silence here gives me the impression a few here had their eyes on it... Just sold a second ago for US $6,306.60. Pic without plexi cleared up fuzziness people were talking about earlier. Anyone here get it?
Ranchero, the poor man's Railmaster is now the price of a 2016 Railmaster. Those Broad Arrow Hands and Straight Lugs are love at first sight.
