That’s a hell of a deal. Great looking piece.

expected it to be completely sold out to flippers though.

=X
It's a great brand but I don't think flippers have started plonking plastic down for Sinn's yet. The brand's probably a bit niche and as long as there are low risk flipping opportunities elsewhere -- look no further than Speedmaster LEs -- there's no need for them to go to Sinn.

It's really a nice looking piece, price seems fair. But for flippers to touch something as niche as a Sinn a lot needs to happen. I saw at a GTG a 1550 SG and really liked it.🥰

I like how the article emphasizes about how past re-editions currently sell for above RRP...

Before it even describes the watch.

It’s a really cool watch, but I can’t get over the “Dark Star” at six o’clock (and yes I understand that’s the name they’re giving this watch).

Aaaand they’re now sold out...

Nice-looking watch, except for the faux-aged lume:

"We’ve gone back to the original two-counter configuration without date, and added a cream-colored patina to the indexes and hands for the aged tritium look, and even included a very subtle fade to the rotating bezel so that in strong direct light it gives off hues of purple."

Seems to me this aged lume thing started with the "homage" watches--Steinhart, Squale, etc.--and was then taken up by the likes of Omega. Really disappointing. At least Rolex isn't doing it. Yet.

Been around for quite some time. The first watch I can recall people making a fuss about on was the reissue of the JLC Polaris years ago...

***Edit to add that the specific model I was referring to is the JLC "Tribute to Polaris 1968: that was released in 2008, not the most recent one from 2018. It's a lovely watch.***

If it’s done well it’s not a big deal to me, and I see it as coloured lume rather than anything “faux”...

This too is the perspective I’ve started to take when it’s used tastefully.

My definition of “tasteful” is extremely subjective though.

The 1550 SG is a really nice watch but closer to US$4-4.5 for a good one. This is a nice alternative.

Let us not forget this is the same guy who described the Speedy Tin-Tin as the ‘next Paul Newman Daytona’.

Looks nice, and not to be too nitpicky, but this pouch is a piece of crap. Hope it also comes with a legit box of some kind...

Agreed, that pouch is a "piece of crap". Hopefully the money went in to the materials and manufacture of the watch rather than a flash box.

I hear where you're going with that, but at the same time it's humorous to me that they would show off the pouch. 🙄

But yeah, hope they spend it on the watch. That being said, from what people above said it looks like a bit of a hype piece to begin with even though the price isn't bad for what it is.

Yeah, there isn't much to show about that pouch. Handy for travel though. It would have been better if it was a manual wind movement rather than an automatic. An LE of 150 pieces too.

In the present case, at least, it's deliberately done to mimic aged lume: "we added a cream colored patina for the aged tritium look." The look is fine, but it's the intent that bothers me. Kind of like homage watches. Many of them look fine too, but they're designed with the intent to resemble something they're not---a watch that has 30 years of history, a Seamaster, a Submariner, etc.
