I'm no expert, but I believe the broad arrow hand is not correct for this reference, but could be completely wrong. http://m.ebay.com/itm/322157849469Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network
2 problems: the hands do quite ok. worth a bit of money. they do not belong to this reference from the 60`s. what worries me, is the second hand white in the first pics. and silver in the later, dismanteled pics........kind regards. achim
They also indicate that the watch comes on a military strap 'pictured' but it looks to be on a 7912 bracelet. Something just seems off with the listing. The seller's feedback is all related to Transformers, which is great in another way, but odd for a watch of this caliber.
3 more concerns: 1. Seller has 740 Transformers for sale and one collectible watch. 2. Sales history is "private". 3. Seller is in China.
wrong hands, and yes seconds hand has been painted. Case has been refinished and the seller is confused on which reference he has, the 135004 is not the "first Railmaster model/reference with broad arrow hands"...is it a 2914 or a 135004? My guess is its parts from both assembled together and all refinished to look shiny and new. The parts have value, but its a shame the spent so much effort to suck the life out of this to make it look perfect.
In my opinion, board arrow hand was not be produced until 1962. it's should be dauphine hand on this case. And also second hand is wrong.
A set of broad arrow hands just sold on eBay... http://www.ebay.com/itm/1956-OMEGA-...604639?hash=item3d1d4d36df:g:wCEAAOSwMNxXYRdbPurchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network I wonder if this, or a similar set went into this watch in order to have all the "desired components" in one package, sacrificing originality...
For my info, is the 2990 that obviously different from the 2996 hands? Keeping in mind that the Ranchero 2996 has the same 284 movement as the Railmaster...? Is it the size of the hole?
Yes, both size of the holes... cal 267 vs. cal 28x...and length/body-width of hands.....and different lume area on minutes hand.
WOW!...thanks for the comparison shot...the differences to my eye are quite subtle....I'm impressed. Thanks for the education.
Two more just popped up on the bay. Must be Railmaster season. http://m.ebay.com/itm/OMEGA-RAILMAS...CH-MILITARY-MARKINGS-/182181447309?nav=SEARCHPurchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network http://m.ebay.com/itm/1958-Omega-Ra...h-Org-Bricklink-Band-/301994178365?nav=SEARCHPurchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network
Railies coming out of the woodwork!!!....I'm sure the abundance of these RM's will cause the prices to plummet!
And what about this one http://www.ebay.com/itm/1958-Omega-Railmaster-CK2914-4-Anti-Magnetic-Men-Watch-with-Org-Bricklink-Band/301994178365?_trksid=p2045573.c100033.m2042&_trkparms=aid=111001&algo=REC.SEED&ao=1&asc=36866&meid=203008ab1f2f4251abe22bb7e9212bda&pid=100033&rk=2&rkt=8&sd=322157849469Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network Is it missing the rehaut?? Seems to be a lot of space between the base of the arrow markers and the edge of the dial....
I am still surprised with the ultimate result considering some of the concerns with the piece and seller.
I guess the desirability of the broad arrow hand over-rides the originality factor...I have to admit, I feel the same way...
