As a technical collector (as opposed to a solid gold aesthetics collector ;) ), and also being interested in the history of Swiss movements, I had the chance to grab this for $30.

So why did I do it and what significance does it have?

I won't string it out so I'll post a pic of the movement for you (the clue!)

And I know it's a bit schmutzy at the moment, but I think it'll come up nicely.

Looks like a Felsa 690... first bi-directionally winding rotor. Cool watch.

The Bidynator was the first caliber to find a way around Rolex's patent on the 360˚ rotor.

That's the sort of thing I would buy and them blame it on alcohol and eBay not mixing.

Pshaw! They mix fine. In fact, I rarely eBay any other way...::beer::

I'm plowing my disposable income into luxury goods that I can't inspect in person with legacy technology and a more or less arbitrary collector value. I need some fortification...

Sort of like fishing, eh? Why do it sober? ;)

Can't just say "I spent most of my money on watches from eBay but I want more" can you? :p

Give the man a fluffy toy!

And Dennis gets a small one too for his "Rolex Lawyer" explanation.

Now I only have to track down a microrotor, and then the next target, a Harwood.

(The Harwood is a joke, unless one falls from the sky )

Harwoods are out there. One or two are floating around in the collections of Omega Forums members.

Easily done -- look to UG.

Who knows who first came up with the microrotor?
