I recently won a very low offer of this watch, I know the
crown and crystal are not original but I don't mind and don't have the money to purchase a 1500 dollar perfect specimen. The only fear I have is the dial. I need advice.

AL in UNIVERSAL seems quite close together, and there is a large gap between POLE and ROUTER, the typography of the date wheel is also strange and not something I see in other specimens in 204605-2. I've messaged one very helpful user here already who believes it is genuine but I like the comfort of consensus. What is going on here?

    Many thanks!

    Yes, it's really difficult...

Some of the UG specialists will let you know about it

It looks totally fine to me. Not a redial. Totally original. The aging of the lume, the neatness of the printing, the way the vertical cross hair intersects the M...everything looks original. Date wheels are not typically reprinted, and anyway that one looks perfect. The formation of that 3 with its particular shape and hard edges would be hard to match in a redial. You will always find slight variations among dials from the same period because my understanding is that all the Swiss watch manufactures from the 1940's-1960's sourced out their dial production to various workshops, and there were inevitable variations. Congratulations on an awesome watch purchase!

Fascinating, it's interesting to hear that these watches had their dial production sourced out to various workshops, could you point to where I could read more?

Some polarouter/polerouter dials are signed Singer, some signed Beyeler, and some are Stern.
At least for pole routers, they also seem to have been made in batches.
So for a given reference number, over a certain serial number range, dials will all be the same print etc and made by the same manufacturer (at least this is the pattern I have noticed).

In reference to the OP, the dial looks just fine to me for a 204605-2.
Ive seen 2 types of printing for date rings for pole router dates - thick and thin print (OP has the thick print).
Thick print seems to appear mostly on 204610 references, but Im not sure on the significance - maybe they were a specific batch, or maybe they were service parts, or something else...
