    Hi All,

Appreciate your expertise! I have never bought a Cosmic before, my general understanding is that they seem to have some fans and are perhaps growing in desirability, but are a pain to service. Would love input on whether they are holding or appreciating in value in general. I'm particularly smitten with this one, so any insight to guard against a fake/franken situation would be excellent. Buyer currently asking for $1100 which seems rich for what I can find on Cosmics? It was serviced in January of this year.

    All wisdom appreciated.

Attractive but the dial shows dreaded metallic dial degradation around some lume pips (it may get worse with time) and it looks like a nasty scratch near the center.

If there is no receipt for the service then consider it un-serviced.

Perhaps a $700-800 watch considering the desirability of the blue dial and overall nice condition. I don't see these as being $1100 watches except for ones with perfect dials and an original bracelet.

I agree - Cosmics are still under-rated and this is an attractive dial variant. Price seems steep, especially when you factor in a couple of hundred bucks for service, and the damage expertly pointed out by @X350 XJR.

I checked the offer at Chrono24, seller writes

"...and serviced by a Vintage watch technician (in january 2020)
The service voucher will be included in the shipment."

I think the "nasty scratch" is (hopefully!) on the crystal, you can see a shadow of it of the same shape on the dial

@X350 XJR is right with the lume pips, they really don't look very well :(

Great feedback all, thank you. Fairly ignorant on this kind of degradation. I did notice it, but in current state found it acceptable (call it "character" ha) but if it has a tendency to deteriorate even more from here, certainly that is a worthwhile concern.

Seller is in Japan so when you buy it you will have to pay around 20% VAT on top of the 1100USD when you import it into your country (given you don't live in Japan of course)

@Passover I thought VAT for the US was 10%? Am assuming I'm missing something.

I live in Germany, here we have 19%.

I thought that for the US there is an equal amount to be payed but I might be wrong with that ;)

Our US members here will know better!
