    Hi everybody!

I'm buying a 12/97 Speedmaster but I've some doubt on the dial: it's Step type but tritium!
Basing on my (poor) aknowledge the tritium Step dial were used on the '70s, not in the '90s.
The watch come with only the card and the serial (48.3xx.xxx) reported on the card is the same of the case.
Bracelet (to be checked) should be 1499/842, isn't it?

Thank you in advance for the help!

The photo appears correct for a early 3570.50 reference tritium Speedmaster. It is not a step dial nor should it be. The dial looks very clean in the photo. The serial number is also correct for a tritium 3570.50.

That dial doesn't look stepped - that's a regular tritium dial from the '90s, for a 3590 or early 3570. The step is much more pronounced, like below:

    Great! So it's correct :)
    Just another picture with flash...

So, this is not a Step dial.

There's a thread in the vintage Omega section right now that shows the difference between domed and stepped dials.

That being said, nothing wrong with this watch! Buy it and enjoy it

Agree with the other assessments, it looks legit and in very nice shape. The transition between tritium and luminous occurred in the mid-90s, and there are many watches purchased in the late 90s that have tritium dials.

Hi guys, I got it! What to say... simply awesome! ::love::
Now I'm waiting a vintage calf strap with original Omega buckle, while the bracelet has to be repaired.

    Hi everybody,

    I still have some doubt...
Looking at the variuos "serial numbers table" I found that on the '97 Moon's serial started from 48.34x.xxx while on the '98 from 48.35x.xxx.
Now my question is: why mine is 48.377.xxx if it has been sold on 12/97? It seems a late '98 production... ::shy::

Further infos: this morning I asked to the watch repairer to open the back cover to check the movement serial and it perfectly match to the other on the case.

    So...

    - movement 1861
    - card dated 12/97
    - tritium dial
    - serial 48.377.xxx
    - bracelet 1499/842
    - bezel with È instead of E
    - Ω at the centre of the plexi

How I could be convinced that card date + tritium dial + serial number are coeval?

    THANKSSSSSS

Because it is real, and those charts are not 100% accurate. The Bezel and Dial are 100% as expected for a watch of that vintage. Watches are not made in order by serial number at Omega. your watch could actually be older then a 48.36x.xxx

;) convinced! Probably I should be quietest :p

    A last question... I promise!
As you can see in the first picture above, the luminescent material on the clock hands is clearer than on the dial, is it normal? How I can be sure that the hands are covered with tritium (as the dial) instead of luminova?
I just made a test, I illuminated the watch with a strong light in a dark room, then I switched off the light and I waited few minutes. I saw the luminescence decreasing quickly in the same way during the first 20/30 seconds, so it seems that the luminescent material used is the same.
Looking to the various pictures in this tread, is it possible to confirm?

    Thanks again!!!

luminova would not decrease that quickly.
