Hi OF community,

Looking for advice/opinions on this omega bumper. Looks pretty clean but wanted to see if anyone spots anything that indicates a redial, I’ve been looking at the Omega and Automatic and they look slightly different in color.

The serial number from the photo 12511306 would be a 1950 watch.

Appreciate the advice.

My vote would be old redial but surely the dial experts will chime in.

I’m no expert, but for me this looks like a rather nice original Breguet dial. What’s the asking price?

Dial looks original, crown is incorrect, looks like wear to the bottom lugs. Are the photos cropped this way for a reason?...

Likely a US cased gold-filled watch, I can't see paying more than $400 based on these photos.

I have a Seamaster Calendar with printing in two different colors. It is my firm belief that no redialer would use two different color inks when reprinting a dial, so to me that is evidence that it is more likely original than not.

In my case, the dial seems to have been originally printed OMEGA AUTOMATIC CALENDAR and Seamaster was added afterwards.

Maybe it's just th photo angle through the crystal, but the 'M' in AUTOMATIC is a bit asymmetric, the subdial marks seem a little inconsistent and some of the minute marks seem short (look between 30 and 35). Better dial photos would be useful.

Thank you, really helpful especially on the price. The photos were 3 of the main dial photos and the open back, didn’t want to overload the thread with all the photos. The entire listing is here: https://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-OM...-/233635931554?_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49293

Now that I have seen the auction, I'm thinking it's not worth your time and money. Vintage Omega is terribly expensive for what you get. Yes, the designs are pretty, but everyone thinks so, and that drives the prices up for items in good condition.

Mind you, I'm not saying don't buy Omega, and heck, I'll sell you one myself (PM me if you're interested), but be prepared to spend over a thousand dollars for something worth having.

Yeah that was part of the appeal was the nice designs with the history of them and also being less expensive than buying another new Omega. Seemed like a good option looking at auctions before I joined OF. But diving in deep now it’s definitely hard to find the balance in price point with authenticity.

With a bit of patience and due diligence, one can find a very nice vintage Omega for well under $1000.

A lot of patience and a lot of searching and searching and searching more. Most people don't know where the bargains are hidden and those of you who find them don't seem to share.

I got extraordinarily lucky to have found the 30T2 in my avatar being on sale here and few people interested in it. After I got it, of course it went to my watchmaker immediately. All of the apparent corrosion on the case was dirt and he said the movement went back together so easily that he didn't charge me the usual but rather a significant discount. It came back looking and functioning fabulously.

I suggest someone new only knows to look at eBay and perhaps Chrono24 or a few other online watch dealers and not to lie in the weeds waiting for that $600 Constellation to come along, trolling the major watch sites and perhaps a few of the minor ones as well.
