Well I've created someone's new favourite thread. 😜.

Let’s just say you are the unexpected muse inspiring the content that makes this thread so special. I am eternally grateful.

Unless you are a bona fide veteran with years of experience you are setting yourself up for a world of pain, and potentially destroying your public reputation when things go wrong.

Was this what you had in mind when you said it was going to destroy my public reputation 😉

The backdoor climb to 200 is still at play, but the thread is losing steam at page 8.

Ah personally I think if you really want to do something give it a try. I’d be nervous of all the sheisters and fakes but I’m sure solid contacts can be established which would make that less of a concern. The people I know who started businesses (not watches) did very well for themselves. My wife and I started this small thing related to China, I was dreading going into it as all I could think of were the things that could go wrong but it has been working out alright. It’s just a small side thing nothing major and I plan on keeping it that way.

Selling watches imo would be cool. I know I don’t posses the knowledge to do so and the money side of watches annoys me so I have no desire other than selling a few things here and there with the intent of getting something I like better but if someone posses the knowledge and desire why not? I see the thread got a bit heated I didn’t read the whole thing but recently some very successful self made business people moved into my neighborhood and although they are now doing very well and branched out into numerous businesses most of then started very small and had a few failures along the way now it seems everyday they are adding an addition to their homes and one guy got an excavator going I’m trying to figure out what the hec he’s building now but I’m at a loss I’m going to have to ask.

Great im surprising the mods too.
Sigh…

nope you still don’t get it. Your posting in this thread is just general not knowing anything. We see it a lot.

destroying your reputation as alluded to, is fairly well understood outcome of watch selling when you don’t know enough and has already been explained to you how that happens at least twice already but alas you missed it.

also not going to surprise the mods is when you hit 200 posts in about 4 days and your complaint when your not allowed to post sales posts is made…

Oh I lost interest in this thread very quickly, I've got respect for some of the people on here and taken their advice but some of the others are just regurgitating shit that doesn't hold any merit.

Everyone wants to be heard I guess and it's just reenforced some of my earlier beliefs about online forums, after all Dave chapelle did say "the comment section isn't real life"

Thanks for the comment

I wouldn't be so stupid as to post any watches on here. I mean I wouldn't want to sell anything on here after finding out you'd be my customer.

I never said you would not be allowed to every post for sale lol... You know so little about selling watches lol.

Also 1st rule of business make your sales when you can and do not limit yourself for meaningless emotional reasons. Buy when you can, and sell where you can. When you're looking at such small margins with massive capital expenditures you should not lose site of that.

So the final lesson you probably need to learn is that assuming “oh the watch collectors on this website are really demanding, the ones on Instagram / Facebook / etc are totally chill and have low expectations” doesn’t really work.

Your problem isn’t with members of this site and your ability to communicate with them, your problem is communication in general and is with watch collectors in general, which will be interesting given those are your potential customers.

Make assumptions. You really don't know who I am or what I do in real life.

Let me give you a little lesson seeming that we are giving them out willy nilly.

Sarcasm is very hard to portray through text, but assumptions come very easy.

This is far from me as a professional face to a business.
