From what I gather, you can end up with a small fortune trading watches………providing you started out trading with a large fortune!
Sounds to me, like more trouble than it’s worth.
Hey! With the way things are shaping up, becoming a watchmaker sounds like a clever choice. I mean, in a world full of constant changes, the art of crafting timepieces seems timeless, right? It's like creating little pieces of history! And you know what's cool? While everyone's stressing over company administration and all the hustle and bustle, you'd be peacefully crafting your own path. Just imagine the satisfaction of fixing something so delicate and important. So, if you're ever thinking about making the shift, you might find your true calling in those beautifully ticking marvels.
Wow, this was quite the read. I know that the original poster is long gone at this point but phrases like "I probably have made money on what I sold so far" and " I like being able to wear watches before I sell them" .... that's not what a business looks like. And the attitude... ngmi. That is not what a business looks like.
One of the interesting thing things about bubbles is that they attract people who see easy money being made and and assume that is how it always is. Could be stocks, crypto, collectibles, watches...
I can argue I’m about plus 100% over the past decade but a lot of that gain is just the market over the past 3-4 years and one piece decided to go insane for no apparent reason.
Exactly what I was alluding to. Extreme euphoria in bull market conditions sure makes it seem like anyone can make money selling (Silver, Gold, Crypto, Stocks, Watches, Commodities, X). But once demand corrects, returns to normal... Only a small handful of people stick around. And it's not the ones that aren't treating a business as a business.
As far as why, I think it was easy money. Total freeze of school loan payments, 0% interest rates, and free money in covid relief Catapulted a huge percentage of people who have the opportunity to work from home on their computers into new territory. I don't know why but the Crypto crowd is absolutely obsessed with luxury watches (especially Rolex from what I've seen discussed), which may have helped work as something of a dragnet as well.
It's not the sort of thing likely to happen again anytime soon...
I thought the crypto folks were all about the snoopy speedies. TO THE MOON and all that....
Yes, there's a lot of that kind of talk in the crypto crowds, but most of them want to go to the moon with their Rolexes. I'm sure there are some that go for Speedies, but I don't know any.
