I have bid on my first vintage Omega and have a few questions since I'm very new to vintage watches. The listing has it stated as a Seamaster but is labeled a Geneve. I can't read the serial number yet but have a few pictures of the watch. an advice on this would be most welcome. Just wanting to see if this is truly an orginal Omega, or mix of several Omega watches.

These reference 136.011 (looks like what yours is) were labeled as Seamasters, Geneves, Seamaster 600s and some were even left blank with no model name. Its very hard to see but I think the serial # on your movement might be a 20 million dating it to ~ 1963. I have a Seamaster 600 with a Cal. 611 with a 21 million serial # dating it to ~ 1964...

You can see the similarity in the case style and case back and even in the dial layout. If you feel uncomfortable ask for better pictures of the movement, the inside of the case back (so you can read numbers) and a better dial shot (in natural light). If they are a quality seller they should oblige if not, well these are fairly common and another good one will show up soon. Good luck and keep us posted.

Thanks, I'm hoping when i'm done that I can bring my watch closer to the look of yours.

It looks to be in pretty good shape already...I'd just want to see better pictures for reassurance. By the way, did you already win this? If so lets see some snaps!

I should have it in a few days. Once I do off for a good service it will go.

Well I've been outbid. I'm around 200 for it bid wise is it worth going much above that.

It's a nice clean Geneve, a bit worn but that's not an issue if you plan to wear it regularly.

It's in Seattle (US$) so price wise you would probably be over spending if it goes above $300.

In Australia it would probably fetch more so maybe one of the US based members can advise on current prices.

Ok so I have been outbid but one good/bad thing has come from this I officially have the vintage bug. I'm going to start a new post but I'm massively upping my budget and looking at either a Seamaster Cosmic 1k or under or a Speedmaster professional under 2,500 US or an older Seamaster 300 pro. Any advice on places to find any of these would be grateful. Yes, I have looked at ebay but for every real Omega there are 10x as many fakes. I see ashleystedman sells a lot on here and her prices on speedys are close to what I can afford. Anyone had any dealers with her?

I think @ashleysteadman can be trusted, he's a good old Aussie boy. :D
Send him a PM to see if he has anything going at the moment.
