D3D1C2B4-ED50-43AE-B8ED-6A947337F888.jpeg Hi everyone, hopefully someone could help me. I have a few omegas, most of which have either the 1120 or 2500 movement. Last June I bought an new AT 8900 with the white face/orange hands. At full wind, does the movement make the audible “click” that we sometimes hear with the other movements? I’ve wound this thing 80-90 turns and it and haven’t heard it. I tossed it up to being a newer movement, but I bought the 2018 SMP 8800 in December and it clicks at full power reserve. Thanks for any help

I can confirm this with my De Ville Hour Vision Master Chronometer cal 8900. It does takes quite a bit of winding to start producing that clicking sound -- took around 60 turns after resting 2 days when I was winding it yesterday.

Great thank you. I haven’t worn mine in about a week so it’s run down. I’m going to give it a few more for curiosity’s sake.

I have a few of these movements in slightly different flavours (8900, 8906, 8602, 8400), and they are pretty quiet all the way around. It’s tough to hear the rotor, or even the crown. I wouldn’t be surprised if the overwind was likewise quiet. These movements also have two barrels, which may account for some of the difference in sound and feel compared to the single barrel 8800 design. As a general rule, I avoid winding them more that a few turns (just to get the second hand moving so I can set the correct hand). Some automatics don’t handle a lot of manual winding very well.

I usually keep mine on winders since I switch watches every two days or so. I try not to wind them as much as possible. I think mine falls into the same way as yours. It’s dead silent.
