question on negotiating price

That's true, but what I've found is that high priced watches do not get any traffic (unless it's the only game in town), the best strategy at least for me is to price FAIR and leave a small bit of room for negotiations.

Also on a personal note, I'd rather move 5 watches at a fair price than 1 watch and make a killing on an unsuspecting n00b. In the end the n00b will find out he's been had and will not be happy.

there are all kinds of sellers. Some even sell their watches at a very low price when they are worth more! It can just be the luck of the draw.

No one is forcing anyone to buy/sell a watch. Everyone also has slightly different beliefs as to the value a watch has for them. Some questions are part of the job and repeating the same answers annoying at times gives the same reassurance a new buyer wants to hear. Now if the same buyer asked me the same question over and over that would be annoying but each new customer is a new deal.

Buying and selling goes both ways just different spectrums.

I've definitely spoken with other dealers who hate fielding questions and such which is fine but they also never complain when they sell a watch at a price they want. You gotta give a little to get a little is my opinion.
