Hello everyone. Looking for your opinions on this one, please. My thoughts on it right now: - Case has decent edges but it may have been polished in the past - no small hour marker at 3 (not sure if this is an issue or not) - not original crown - seller has stated it is replacement - a few of the minute markers look "off"? but it just could be the photos - passes MOY, text and Constellation font looks right to me - dial and hands look to be in really good good condition - Cal 564 and serial seems correct Thanks Michael
Could this be a consequence of the camera? Because this text looks a bit sloppy and would give me pause:
I'm glad you mentioned that cause there are a couple photos that had me scratching my head. Here are another two that I just got. To me these looks original, but I'd like others opinions
What do you make of the difference on the how the rotor is attached? First pic is the watch in question that i posted about, second pic is a grab from an OF members listing of a 168.005
As I understand it, the large circle on each rotor indicates that they are both service replacements. The difference may just be a matter of when each rotor was made.
Something to note is that this watch is a later 168.005, with painted indices instead of indices that are inlaid with onyx. Due to this, you may be able to negotiate the price down slightly. That said, the watch appears to be in solid condition.
This looks good to me. There are still plenty of 168.005s out there with the original crown, so that should factor into the price. Here’s one I wound up with three years ago. The hands are not as nice as the one you’re looking at, but it seems to have the onyx inlays on the indices.
Why do some sellers, listing watches for thousands of pounds/dollars refuse to show a straight on picture of the dial?!
Just received the 168.005 today and wow it is a stunner. Thanks everyone for your input. Now on the hunt for an original crown.
