Question for the OF watchmakers

Hi OF
I have a question about swapping movements and dial from a sapphire Speedmaster to a Hesalite Speedmaster case. I wish to ”modify” one of my sapphire watches into a Hesalite version and instead of trying to change the crystal I got a complete Hesalite case. My usual watchmaker did not want to take on the task, he is not confident it will work and fit as easy as it does in my brain….. but I am certainly no watchmaker.
So the question is basically if anyone knows if a 1861 movement and dial from a sapphire version drops straight into a 145.022 Hesalite case?
If it is not possible, please elaborate, maybe the movement spacer is different or some other things makes it impossible or difficult.
Please let me know what you know👍

I'm not a watchmaker- but in my experience it should be possible. But, is your sapphire speedy having an exhibition caseback? If so it will have a higher movement spacer. So if you want to use the normal caseback with dust cover there are extra steps necessary.

Both watches have the basic steel caseback.

Then, it should be doable.. though, probably there might be small case variations (since I'm not sure what 145022 case you've got there) so you might run into problems if you did a movement swap. As you said, dial and hands swap would be the cleanest solution. Once I tried also a movement swap, and I discovered that the pusher leg was a bit too long for the other case, so the pusher tabs(?) on the movement would not fit. So a dial and hands swap was the only solution for that.

What do you have for the 145.022 case? Pushers? Dustcover?

No difference between the hesalite and sapphire with regards to the movement or dial.
