    Dear Members

After several research, i found only one vintage Omega Constellation Dial whitout the word 'Chronometer'. It is clearly state here that the dial has been repainted.

    AA).jpg

So my question is about this missing word on constellation dial, is there any real dial without this word? especially a pie pan dial? If no, why this word has been forgotten during the redial (on this one...) ? And finaly if the pie pan dial has no chronometer printed (only Omega Automatic on the top and Constellation / Star on the bottom) , is it a redial for sure?

Sorry for all those questions, i am trying to learn...

Yes it is a refinished dial. This 168.004/10 (cant quite tell because I cant see the crown recess) should have both Officially Certified and Chronometer printed on the dial. some earlier models like the 14393 didnt have Officially Certified, but that was just a temporary thing.

    Cheers

Very hard to establish the overall condition of the dial because of the photograph , but yes I would say it is.

    Hi Desmond,

I have this dial which stops at chronometer without the words officially certified. So it is a redial too?
    Tks.

No, it is not a redial.

For all our beginner aspiring collectors out there:

    VINTAGE CONSTELLATIONS = MINEFIELD
ADD PIEPAN DIAL = LARGER MINES
ADD BLACK PIEPAN DIAL = 99% CHANCE YOU WILL STEP ON A MINE AND IT WILL EXPLODE

MORAL: Do your homework and inquire before buying.

    Fixed it for you. :D

14900, 14902, 14381, 14393, 167.005, 168.005, etc plus the respective deluxe refs, so the generation of Constellations from 1959 to the sixties, these are most of all the ones that went through a phase in which Omega did without the „officially certified“. Still, not exclusively so: Most 167.005/168.005 feature the 3rd line of text, for example.

I came across this one, what are your comments? Selling at usd 2,000. I think it’s a bit steep but looks unpolished. Would appreciate for your opinion.

$2000 is ok if hour markers were not black painted. But looks like they were.

Tks for your comment. Other than this, does it look original?
