I’m in the market for a 1950s or 1960s steel Omega watch for my father. I’m below a novice on watches but these have caught my eye in terms of beauty. I like the basic Omega design with “not a lot” of writing/design on the dial. I prefer ones with no date function and 35mm and larger dials. My question is for a sample in nice (doesn’t need to be flawless) condition, what should my budget be? I’ve seen prices for less than $1000 and well over $2000. I’ll gladly extend my budget but I want to make sure that I don’t make a mistake on such a large purchase.

    Thanks in advance.

Sorry, I’ll find more examples and return. I’m just so raw on this that I don’t really no where to begin.

It all begins and ends with good photos. Without them, you'll get ridicule and not much else.

Here is an example. 1955 is the claimed date. Looks so clean that it’s almost unbelievable. Seller wants $1750.

Wrong hands, wrong crown, overpolished case and overpriced by a factor of four. Horrendous newbie trap.

What would be a reasonable price for this watch and does everything look legit? Is it realistic that it would look nearly brand new?

Just don’t buy this watch, so many things wrong on it. If you buy one try to find a great example. This one is really overpriced and overpolished with wrong parts. I think your better (and cheaper off) buying on this forum.
About the value, not much. Maybe read the thread “learn how to fish” great tipps there
