Hello All,
This is a first time post for me. I was hoping to get some opinions as to the authenticity of this vintage Omega I have been considering. Thanks in advance.

Authentic but the dial has been refinished at some point which hurts the value considerably.

What more can you tell us about the watch?

34 mm case and I believe the reference number dates it between 1950-52? Seller claims it has the original dial but I did feel it looked a little too good to be true. Seller is asking $420 for it. Fair price considering the refinish?

Looks like the serial number is at 13 million, so 1952. Not the worst redial I've seen, but definitely not that great. $420 sounds a little high for what it is. Is he making any guarantees?...Is it serviced? Is there any reason you want this specific watch?

I've been browsing for a vintage Omega for a while now and the look of this watch appealed to me. This is from a private seller which is why I wanted to get some second opinions before pulling the trigger. Since this is a redial I think I will keep looking. May I ask how you were able to tell so easily? Is the dial just too clean for its age or is there some other indicator? Thanks for the responses btw, I'm new to Omegas and there is a lot to learn.

Ding! You got it.

The dial also has the incorrect font, and no “Swiss” or “Swiss Made” under the 6.

The lug shape is quite unique, it is a redial but it could be a fair price if you like the look of it.

I would advise against it. Even if the idea of a redial doesn’t offend you now, it may bug you in the future. In this case, every time you look down at your watch. Keep learning, keep hunting. Just my two cents of course.

Definitely not worth the effort imho.
At that price, or little more, you can buy an honest vintage Omega fully original.

In regards to the crown, should a watch circa 1952 have the Omega logo on it? Or has the crown been replaced as well?

Yup - not all redials are created equal. But the best are often sold at dealer's premium that you can avoid if you educate yourself and remain patient for a decent original example.

I’m wearing a lovely redial now, but it was bought before I became educated on OF!
