Question about a 1930's Omega 9k case

Why would a 1930's era (as best I can tell) Omega be in a case who's hallmarks put it (again as best I can tell) as 9k from Birmingham in 1862-1863...

It doesn't really look like the 1937-1938 mark but I guess it could be just worn...

This is a "solid" (albeit 9k apparently) case with coin edge on the top side and houses an enamel dial. Something I'm looking at buying but unclear if it's appropriate or not. I know this isn't much to go on but I don't particularly want to link to it either!

Agree, its 1937

But the hallmark stamping is not very accurate - this date range should have the squiggly bit underneath the N

please see below

ALD didnt set up in UK until 1871, so its definitely not from 1862 ( which also predates the birth of the wrist watch as we know it today)

Oh, it's a wristwatch?! The OP didn't say, and I was assuming PW.

Yes this was my assumption that either the stamp was done on an angle causing it to not accurately show the bottom portion or the records were questionable or something. Either way I didn't really think the case was from the 1860's... especially like was pointed out on a wrist watch...

the face looked like the white enameled example DirtyDozen12 showed with the "oldetimers" watermark. The case however had a solid bottom and only the top screwed off with the crystal portion having a coin edge texture around it, presumably to help with removal. Rounded case.

Auction getting a lot higher than I'd hoped. Any thoughts on if this is worth pursuing? It's just shy of $400 at the moment. I was foolishly hoping the place I'd found it was going to be one that wasn't watched as closely as say fleabay...

I am not well-versed in Omega but the hour and minute hands appear to be mismatched and the dial looks to have a chunk missing near 1 o'clock. At $400+ I would wait for a better example.

Thanks, thats where my head was too but on the off chance that it was some accidental epic find I figured it couldn't hurt to ask in here!

That thing at 1:00 appears to be a stain but doesn't really change my mind.
