hi, new to the omega forums. Does anyone have any additional info about the 1987 max bill quartz pieces? I cannot find a lot on the web. Cheers
Hello and welcome to forum It would help if you posted photos of what you are talking about - it also endears you to all. Photos Make Friends here!
Hey, welcome. Max Bill was one of the artists, I think there are 8 others, but would need to check AJTT when I'm home. The model is referenced as The Art Collection. They came in a couple of sizes, a couple of colours, and were all quartz. Give me an hour or so and I'll post up some pictures.
3 sizes, 12 artist designed case backs, dare and non date variants. From AJTT and copyright to Omega.
Odd when I hear Max Bill and watch I think of something totally different lol. I knew he was an industrial designer, never thought I would see his name on a watch he had not "designed."
You mean the Junghans series? http://www.junghans.de/en/junghans-collection/watches/maxbill/detail.html I was never a fan of Bauhaus but the Omega Art ones are appealing in their simplicity.
Nice. Due diligence on these check that the correct case back bezel is in place, and that it hasn't been mauled by someone unscrewing to change the battery. If you need them, a few sellers have NOS straps on eBay at the moment.
Yes the difference is the Junghans face is derived from the Max Bill wall clock a stunning bauhas industrial design. The Omega just has the caseback designed by the artist.
Not sure if Nomos not being as nice as the Junghans or the wall clock. Wall Clocks Watches.... I just like the Max Bill over the Nomos.. Cleaner design, like the case and crystal better... Granted the lugs are better on the Nomos... Granted alot of variations of each exist, but once I saw the Junghans I stopped lusting for a Nomos.
Funny, the lugs are what ruins the Tangente for me, but agreed on everything else about the Junghans.
Good call on the case back, seen a few with cracked cases on the back indeed. Any idea if the back is sapphire or plexi?
Well, I decided to get it. It's working, but the caseback was indeed cracked a bit. Flawless front though
