not only that kind but some of the collection are nearly perfect, but that TV is now laying around for years. I never wear it, maybe the time will come to let it go.

same with this one....

How come it looks like it was dipped in grape jam?

If ingested, tritium is certainly dangerous...

You would have to eat a lot. It emits a very soft beta radiation. Plus its half life is around 13 years, so the remaining tritium is vintage watches is very little.

Still a occupational hazard to someone who works with it everyday. Did you suggest because it's not dangerous to you, it's usage is not regulated?

No, I just explained some differences between radioactive isotopes. I did not advise eating any of them. Just pointed out that tritium is waaaay less dangerous than radium. Tritium is still used in watches (like Ball):

Ball-Trainmaster-One-Hundred-Twenty-Watch-2.jpg

It is used enclosed within sealed glass tubes. But even if the glass tube broke, the amount and type of radioactivity would make it probably harmless. I say probably because this is not all-or-nothing; most likely any radiation can be harmfull, in the long term. But to put it into perspective, walking out in a sunny day makes you receive more radiation (from cosmic rays and from the sun) than you would from one of those tubes. Plus the beta radiation from tririum is so soft that it is blocked by a few mm of air, or a sheet of paper. Radium on the other hand emits gamma radiation, much more penetrant and dangerous.

Would I eat any of them, of advise handling them carelessly?. No. Just stating some facts to an adult audience.

Thank you, adult, for answering the question about which radioactive material is safer - a question which nobody happened to ask in this thread. 😉

Possibly a noob question but I notice when you look at lots of different images of the TV dial, some seem to obviously have a circular "inner-bezel" going around the TV shaped dial and connecting it to the TV shaped outer bezel. Like there is a little moon sliver on the sides and top of the dial. However, in a lot of other pictures I don't see these crescents. Were there two variants of this model (maybe one with an all black rehaut and one with silver rehaut?)

Mine has those crescents as the dial itself is round.

The case is round as it is shared with 176.0015 & 176.0016.
The 176.0014 just has the TV bezel and crystal installed as a different style. Here's a great resource:

I have one of these currently listed here...Comes with a spare crystal.
