Query on Omega Speedmaster TV Dial 176.0014

Hi everyone,

I'm interested in the Omega Speedmaster TV Dial 176.0014 and has the following questions which I hope all the experts here can help me with:

1. What kind of lume was used on this model?

2. Is it possible to change the metal bracelet out to install a leather one?

3. There seem to be a rubber gasket (refer to attached pic, there is a cut around the 120 mark below the bezel) around the watch bezel. Is it easy to replace this rubber piece?

4. What is the value of this model?

5. Is it possible that a 176.0012 case back was fitted originally onto this watch as it is known that Omega fitted this model with the Seamaster case back onto it...

Thanks in advance for any help to answer my queries.

Warmest regards,

Lance

1. Originals are tritium.

2. Never seen it done. I believe it would require custom end links.

3. Never noticed that on mine. No answer other than it is mostly likely something that would be changed during service/ crystal replacement.

4. Recommend looking at sold items on the Bay or other sites.

5. No answer.

Beware of service expense on these movements and the plastic parts they contain. If broken, you may find yourself paying quite a premium. Some watchmakers will not service them at all...

Hi there!

Thanks for your kind reply! It was most useful.

I don't think it might be possible to find the crystal for this watch anymore as I've tried looking through the Internet and did not manage to find anyone selling it.

Anyway, will bring it to my local watch repairman to see if he can do something about the rubber as well as fit on the leather strap for me.

Any other info regarding what to look out for this model is appreciated.

Crystal is still available from Omega, and is part 063TN5277TA. Any watchmaker with an Omega parts account can order in when they service the watch.

Cheers, Al

Hey AI,

Thanks for that! Will come in handy if I need a change of the bezel.

Anyone can share pics of your TV Dial?

The dial doesn't have the T label so I don't think the lume contains tritium.

Oh wow.. Yours seem to be in near perfect condition... Looks great!

Those are the only kind of watches that @incabloc owns, nearly flawless!! Maybe all the non-perfect watches have to be shipped out of Switzerland?? Is it a law??

Oh well... I'll take the non perfect ones! Ship them over now... Hehehe... Actually some imperfection is fine with me as it shows the age but not a new watch that indent or scratch accidentally.. Ouch!

Oh btw, I see two different kinds of hands on from the pics posted... Are either correct to the watch?

Oh btw, I see two different kinds of hands from the pics posted (black center and white center on the hour and minute hands) .. Are either correct to the watch? Which is the older version?

Looks like all the same kind. The hour hand on the watch you posted appears different because it's either faded or has been repainted.

BTW, lume on the dial seems to have been all gone already, kinda appropriate for the ageing dial condition.

Oh right... Thanks for pointing that out to me... Wonder if I should replace them.. But they don't really bother me at this point in time

Did Omega ever use anything else than radium/tritium/superluminova?

not only that kind but some of the collection are nearly perfect, but that TV is now laying around for years. I never wear it, maybe the time will come to let it go.

same with this one....

Maybe, maybe not, but in any case, that dial was made long after the use of radioactive material began to be regulated. It has to be clearly labelled. There are many other dials of the same period that have the T label, along with many others that don't including this one.
